It is Opening Day and there will be (some) fans in the seats. I'm sorry to say that I think that this is going to be a Yankees year. Right city, wrong team. LGM

Yankee bats looked really bad - except for Gary Sanchez (who they almost cut from the team). So they are in the basement, but they will be moving up from here.

What a ridiculous rule. Putting a.runnerr on second.in the 10th inning. For 9 innings actual baseball is played, the same basic game, at least in the National League, for over 100 years. Then because the game is tied, let’s play a different game, maybe old men’s softball or something worse. Because we believe people will stop watching on TV ? Because fans at the park will leave ? Managers will run out of pitchers ? Then hire ones who do not change pitchers in the 4th or 5th innings when they are throwing effectively. I would like to see the research. Maybe if the game goes to the 12th or later, then think about a change, but not in the 10th.

10th is too early. Like the idea of the 12th better.

1) It's a stupid rule change. You can literally win the game without a hit, walk, or error. Two routine ground balls to second brings in the run. A pitcher can get a loss while being perfect
2) Strange opening day in the home run category. Tigers have a home run in such heavy snow the hitter didn't know it was out and slid into second. Dodgers base runner thought a home run was caught and tried to get back to first and while running backwards ran past the guy who hit the home run (who was ruled out for "passing" the runner)

What a weird play. The outfielder appeared to have it in his glove and then lost it when his glove hit the top of the fence and it popped out. He came down and started the throwing motion which must have sent the baserunner scampering back to first. I love when the quirky baseball rules get highlighted, except of course the final out of Game 3 of the 2013 World Series.

And I can say that as someone who booed Larry Barnett for years. On a positive note, that Cardinal win made my ticket for game 6 a lot more memorable. Only championship winning game I've seen in person

Only championship winning game I've seen in person I find it hard to believe you’ve never been to a game in which HC won a championship. My father hitchhiked from McKeon Rd to Madison Sq Garden in 1947, but I was not there. I was not counting things like conference championship teams that went on to lose in the big dance. Although, upon reflection, I was in attendance to see Maryland beat Duke in the women's final back in 2006

Boston Red Sox have 27 players at their Alternative Site Polar Park in Worcester as stated by Manager Alex Cora in his pre game interview. Coney Island Hot Dogs has been designated as the alternate Alternate site for rain delays.

Maybe if the game goes to the 12th or later, then think about a change, but not in the 10th. Games nowadays (or before this change) that go more than 12 innings are horrible. Too long, too many pitchers, you name it. And the fans vote with their feet. They leave. Fenway in normal times is nearly empty when a game goes that long. Then for a day or two after the way they manage staffs these days, they're calling guys up from the minors, etc. Which I hate; I think all the callups cheapen the game and it favors the clubs that have an unlimited supply of bodies down there (like my Red Sox). But having said that, I'm on board to do what they do in Japan. Game over. Tie game. .5 a win, .5 a loss. Not playoffs, of course (by the way, is a guy on second the rule for postseason this year as well?).
