I wish him well and thank Coach Berard for his years at HC.
Sadly, there are two reason often given for such move (1) to spend more time with family or (2) for unspecified "new opportunities." These typically mean little in reality. I winder if there'll really be a national search for the ext coach?

I think the Associate Head Coach at Boston University would be a great candidate for the open position at Holy Cross.

I think the Associate Head Coach at Boston University would be a great candidate for the open position at Holy Cross. That would be great but it’s probably a worse job now than when he left. Now, if we somehow get into HE in the next two weeks and increase the budget dramatically, we could be in business. Chances of that happening are close to zero.

He will likely be joining the Providence College Athletic Department as an Associate AD for Men's and Women's Hockey which just opened up with Enrico Blasi being named the HC at St. Thomas. Just a guess since one of his sons is already on the PC team and the other one is coming too.

No scandals, good citizenship, good academics. Thank you Coach Berard. If MB is covering any difference in salary at PC through the end of Berard's HC contract that would be good negotiating (by Berard). An Associate AD for one sport (although two genders, both potential national contenders) strikes me as part DOHO but perhaps he will have some non-hockey duties in the department, too.
Glad HC is not hiring a national search firm. College hockey strikes me as too small a community for that.

Well, PC has a director of hockey operations for the men's team that just was an assistant coach on the gold medal World Juniors team. www.tsn.ca/from-providence-to-world-juniors-theresa-feaster-making-her-own-hockey-history-1.1564992

AD with responsibility for Hockey and other duties and department collaboration throughout the year.

Well, ADMB sure has been busy replacing coaches since he has arrived on the Hill. I wish him the best of luck finding a great candidate that can turn this program around and start to contend against the upper echelon of the league.

I am sure that is the type of coach MB wants. IMHO, the program can use some fresh air. Perhaps a coach who has talented kids that he brings to HC and does not send them to some other program that is an opponent of HC.

This extension was arguably FADNPs biggest screwup during his tenure. Good for both sides to part ways and start over. This program is on life support and in need of serious changes.

A new head coach is as serious a change as you can make.

Well, a new coach could bring everyone from a previous school this offseason with the free transfer rules but with Holy Cross not having graduate programs, that won't help for fifth year seniors.

Who knows, maybe the head job will open up at Air Force in the near future. Perhaps Pine will give him a second crack at a head coaching gig. That would be great.

Bob Chesney was hired on 12/14/17. Marcus Blossom was hired in May, 2019. I’m fairly confident that both men have a good AD/coach relationship and both would acknowledge the timing of their respective arrivals on Mt St. James.
