As an old person, I like to do these things by check, rather than credit card or electronic transfer. Among other things, some bank isn't taking a piece of the action.
I disagree with the policy, but checks mailed and postmarked today do not count towards the giving day total

Anyone been contacted about this? Just looked at my E-mail, and I have 3 different E-mails about giving this, so I count as being contacted

I gave this morning, although my gift had a few less zeros than gifts given by my classmate John Luth.

My gift had four digits. Only two left of the decimal point however.🙂

IMHO The Holy Cross leadership team should think big and reach beyond the narrow paradigm of marketing through sports. (see the Vartan Gregorian obit in The Times for his role in saving the NY Public Library system.) Holy Cross is not merely a Jesuit or Catholic New England treasure. Holy Cross is a national institution, an American treasure. HC is unique. The only Catholic Jesuit college dedicated solely to undergraduate education. As such it offers an intensely personal academic learning experience in a uniquely close supportive setting designed to develop the whole person. HC is not a trade school to train students to do something. It is designed for its students to be someone. The school's mission is to develop the whole person, a life long learner man/women for others in the Jesuit tradition. Think of a student at HC who becomes a great scholar or scientist such as Dr. Fauci because of her/his exposure to the unique learning experience offered at HC. IMHO this message of the special opportunities offered by HC must be spread far and wide not only to alumni but through the alumni to the great movers & shakers, foundations and philanthropists for their financial support. Various fund raising events $1,000 a plate dinners, other events and more outreach should be held across the nation not only for our alumni but for the titans of American life. At this time more than in the last 25 years Holy Cross needs an enlightened, imaginative, bold, energetic leadership filled with hope, ideas & love for the school to accomplish these goals and more.
