The worst HC "rain game" I can remembah attending was at Brown in 1980....just an absolute monsoon...it would have been postponed if it happened today.

The only games I’m sitting in a driving rain for at this point will.be ones in which my children are playing. Speaking of which, that is how I plan to spend my holiday weekend.

I think the AA should make the r/t bus down to East Hartford free to students and get a many as possible to the game - I think the pre-season hype (even among students) will be the most in many years The BC game in Boston had hype. I don’t see much hype for playing UConn on an airport runway. Frankly, I’m pretty confident at this juncture that a win is within reach over a weak program that’s drifting in a sea of irrelevance. UConn just isn’t as attractive an opponent right now as they were several years ago.

Should have added above that my strong impression was South Dakota State was/is a stronger/better club than what we’ll see from UConn.

It's arguably the worst 1A squad in the country. Hard pass on any future games beyond this yr.

It's arguably the worst 1A squad in the country. Hard pass on any future games beyond this yr. And arguably the worst DI team (FBS or FCS) in the state of Connecticut. Unless Edsall worked miracles in recruiting their "Week 0" opener in Fresno will likely be really, really ugly. Unfortunately for us, it gives them a little opporunity to work out the kinks before our game. As bad as UCONN and UMASS have been of late, I still wouldn't mind seeing either on iur schedules. Something to be said about an FBS game where you at least have a fighting chance to win.

I would think of UConn as a close game against a good FCS team for which we get paid $425K. When you think about it like that, it seems like a pretty good deal. We play Yale for free and think it’s great. Yale and UConn are similar opponents in terms of football ability. Yes, Yale comes to Fitton but East Hartford is a short trip and easily accessible to many HC fans, If Yale paid us $425K per game, I’d gladly travel to the Yale Bowl every year.

Just read an article about Renchler (sp?)Field in preview of today’s lax semis, and it included this interesting fact about its relationship with UConn football - the state authority that manages the stadium gets $173,000 and $3.00 per ticket from UConn for every home game

espn has a piece on UConn with their odds vs various opponents next season - the best chances for wins are against these 4 teams (all others blowout losses)
"Relative toss-ups: Holy Cross (60%), at UMass (50%), Yale (39%), MTSU (37%)"

I’ll take HC and the points. Don’t really need the points but if someone is giving them . . .

Massey has UConn as a 17 point favorite over HC (34-17) with an 85% chance for the win. I guess last season didn't impress him much. We'll see.

As I recall, we beat the spread last time we played the Huskies and expect we’ll do so again. I also suspect the spread will shrink as we get closer to the game and a more serious look is done.

Interesting spread, though. They basically think it will be a blowout.

The only games anyone has to go by are HC/SDSU and Umass/SoIllinois.....the Salukis blew out Umass in 2019. Not enough games to set any kind of reasonable point spread; although those 2 games would say this one would be less than a 17 point margin. Remember, one way or another, HC did not play an OOC game in 2020 save for the playoff game. And UConn did not play a game, period. What are the ramifactions of that?

Go to the window and bet with both hands I am tempted to do just that. I believe with these coaches HC would not have blown that lead in the second half at UConn as we managed to do ba ck then. As an FBS team I can see UConn being favored, but NOT by a 17 point margin. At this time, I would say a realistic spread would be in the neighborhood of 21-17 with UConn favored. I must confess I know little or nothing about UConn's current team or players.

Kevin Shea did a good job with this interview. It promotes HC, the team and the coaches in addition to showing what a special talent we have with Matt Sluka. We know he can run...but I am looking forward to seeing how he develops with his passing.
