W&M and Richmond have played 127 times in football. Would those programs go in different directions conference-wise; i.e. one school would switch leagues and the other wouldn't? Clearly we're not talking about BC and Holy Cross where one school was in a different division and, save for a 5 year stretch in the middle; a non-competitive series from 1970 onward.
Also, Richmond has a basketball program we at HC would not complain about. W&M, on the other hand; has never made the dance. Not once! And they've had some decent coaches IIRC.

The Richmond message board had a similar 4 page thread under “Are Richmond Athletics Worth Saving?” The PL was offered as a better institutional fit especially if the Spider Administration didn’t want to be more competitive in the CAA and A10. Most felt they would rather see the U of R drop athletics than join the PL. I checked the Richmond Board, but could not find the thread. Do you have the link? richmond.forums.rivals.com/threads/revival-of-ur-football.11930/Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see 4-5 similar threads, one of which is aforementioned thread.

Thank you. Always interesting to see fans on other boards have complaints about their programs.

W&M and Richmond are already in different leagues. As far as all sports, the school W&M is most attached at the hip to is Delaware. As far as football is concerned, if it made sense for either W&M or Richmond individually to switch leagues, Im sure they would. Not like they couldn't keep the rivalry game going regardless. But right now there's no reason for either school to switch conferences. William & Mary has had ONE really good coach in the past 35 years, Tony Shaver. The basketball program, since about 2007, has gotten a lot more competitive. Winning seasons and advancing in the conference tournament are now the norm -- they just haven't broken that glass ceiling yet as far as actually winning the conference tournament.
