It's easier to pick out the Jersey wise guy stuff when you're in the room with him. I pretty much knew how he was going to answer that question, but I wanted him to speak to it anyway. The real humor (at least to me) was the irony in his "make shots" comment vs. the old "shots not falling" comment we heard quite a bit a while ago. That had me chuckling. I also liked how he tried to end the presentation about 4 times but having to stop to field another question (thanks DiMarz!). I'm easily amused.
EO - I'm with you regarding the Z man; he's my dark horse. In addition to hitting the wall, he had the concussion somewhere around the beginning of league. His play was slowly ramping up during the first half of the year (as did the team).

Being a crusty old Jersey guy myself, I certainly appreciate CBC's droll humor. There's a thin line between that and being arrogant and condescending. I hope CBC doesn't cross that line.

Hey Carmody is a "wise guy" from Jersey. That's his sense of humor. No question he doesn't like to do these things because he doesn't want to advertise anything about the team to anyone outside of the team and staff. That's fine. My one or two personal encounters with him went as you would expect (think Crucis witnessed one). I actually think the guy is funny in a very dry way and that's why I gave Dave the eyeroll because because when I heard his question, I knew the type of answer he would get.
Lots of fun stuff like Gibbons speculating that the PL tournament winning streak for the guys was because they were actually being coached by the new chaplain (Fr. Rogers?) who succeeded Fr. K (no one "replaces" him!). Though on a serious note, BG said that his team will be playing the 1-3-1 sometimes beside man-to-man and 2-3 and he got a tutorial from CWC over a condensed period of time on the 1-3-1. The ladies game includes the 10 second timeline and he says they may do some pressing too.
While CWC couldn't elaborate on injuries, including some reported already on Crossports, he did say, tongue-in-cheek that he "heard" that AT had an excellent 3 point shot his freshman year but that recovering from his shoulder surgery would affect his shooting and now he is fully recovered and expected him to regain his form. As for whether or not MH had shown improvement, he struggled for the right word and settled on that he has "plateaued." He did say that Matt did well in some games.
I think that during these events Carmody suffers by comparison to Gibbons who is gregarious, open and seems to come across as being in a room full of friends. We wouldn't think about this as much if BG was a little more secretive.
Two different styles and hope they are both winners!

I don't follow the ladies team anymore, so the names kind of past me by.
From memory, he is pleased with being pre-season poll in the middling but joked he would have preferred to have been picked 8 or 9 so the ladies would have a chip on their shoulder. Raquel's injury seemed to have been devastating to the team's fortunes last year and they need people to pick up her scoring and all around play. He said the rookies have great talent but they are freshmen and how fast they develop would be how good the team would be but if they do develop, the team will be "deep" though he also said that he says that every year. Two of the first year players were picked as the best in their state. One was from NH and I believe the second was another NE state but don't recall.
He has a walk on who is the best he's had in his 32 years of coaching and implied good enough for a scholarship but they did not have one to give. I think he said she made 6 or 7 3s in a scrimmage.
He raved about I think it was Swords who is the grandniece of former president Fr. Ray Swords. I think it was her father who played rugby at Holy Cross and captained the US Rugby team something like 8 years. He said her father is huge at 6' 8" and couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time when he first came to HC but took up rugby and became a star. Said the daughter is 6' 3" and ruggedly (my words) built - said something like she was built like her father.
I think, like Carmody, he did not get into injuries but talked about some players who had been hurt last year and think they are recovered.
Those with better memories and/or more familiarity with the players can chime in.

That can happen and if one becomes regular player/contributor, I also hope a scholarship follows.

As a walkon is HC allowed to sweeten her financial aid pkg without incurring the wrath of the NCAA cops?

I don't believe so (unless someone now on scholarship gives up all or part of theirs).

Like all non-scholarship students, HC guarantees 100 percent of demonstrated "need" Need is defined by some formula from hell
The package is made up of grant, loan, and work study. Although the school most likely cannot increase the dollar value of a walk-on's package, the school can re-structure the makeup of the package. The deal could be sweetened by lowering the percentage of loan and increasing the percentage of straight grant

You might want to be patient with the link. The radio was fine but the audio on the internet was all screwed up. They're going to try to dub the radio audio onto the internet video feed and re-post

After speaking with someone in the program, that seems not to be the case. KC is still coming back from his injury and as he improves the team will as well. How is that a "locker room problem?"
