Joe is in the transfer portal. Not surprised as I suspect he didn't think there was much if any pt on the horizon at HC. Perhaps he ends up playing for his dad at Wesleyen.

Sad to see, but if it helps him to gain playing time and it is what he wants, I wish him well.

Smart move academically and basketball wise to complete the year. He got to participate in real practices rather than sit on his butt at some D3 school that opted out of the entire season.

There was clearly no role for him last season nor going forward. Nelson gave him some chances in his first year and he obviously did not show enough. I had hoped he would pan out but it wasn't to be.

Best of luck to Joey.
I don’t consider his transfer as being anywhere near comparable to the ship-jumpers of the past few years.

I agree, but remember there were a couple of players in that large group whose departure made spots available for HC to bring in young talent to upgrade the team. I bear them no animosity and hope their moves helped them in the way they hoped.

I know I have been in the minority on this board in thinking it unlikely that Reilly was either never on scholarship or had some sort of special one year deal. This answers my speculation about where the extra scholarship comes from to bring in 3 new guys. Like last year, Coach Nelson knows about guys planning on transferring before we do

From what I can observe, Joe had a positive two year experience at HC and thanks to Covid will now have three years of eligibility if he wants to use them.

Riley & all those who skipped out the past few years are prime example's that Bball players chose HC for the free ride not for the Education.

Riley & all those who skipped out the past few years are prime example's that Bball players chose HC for the free ride not for the Education. The former players before Riley who left for various reasons, (none seen "skipping" down Linden Lane on their way out) were recruited by Bill Carmody who chose high academic schools Princeton, Northwestern and Holy Cross for his career so I think it's safe to say he valued education and the student athlete experience. They were all recruited by one coach and left under another one so it's hard to project they left because they weren't interested in education.

Standard practice is to skip from the dorm to the Hogan parking lot and drive off campus from there. That's why there's no video of guys skipping down Linden Lane

The best lateral skippers make PL all defensive team. The best skippers are the ones who can keep castaways alive and living a comfortable life on an uncharted desert isle - no matter how many people visit the island and still leave the castaways stranded

Always favored Mary Ann over Ginger and, in the same vein, Bridget over Giselle.

I don't think the kid that went to Johns Hopkins and the kid that went to Union did themselves any disservice academically. Hopefully Joey's in that same category when all is said and done. OTOH, the guy who ended up at a community college? WTF?

IMHO Don't know the young man but from everything I have read, Joey Riley is the type of guy who will land on his feet and succeed no matter.. Obviously, he's an extremely bright, high quality young man. Wish him nothing but the best.

Jeff vanGundy left Yale for Nazareth I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead I just need some place where I can lay my head "Hey, mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed?" He just grinned and shook my hand, "no" was all he said
