This certainly looks like a young man who is serious about doing the preparation needed to play D1 basketball.

Seems as if the question regarding Louth being in shape for next season, has been put to rest. Dropped 17 pounds and lost substantial body fat. Nice transformation in 4 months. Another 6 months of speed and conditioning, until the season begins he should be extremely fit to play.

Reminds me some of another kid who needed to put in this kind of work his first year.

Nice to know my eyes still work and the guy standing (which is what most of the players did this year) on the sidelines didn't look like a basketball player...and now he does! And let's hope at some point he IS!

He was working out. If he gets much bigger he may end up playing a different sport if the hoops thing doesn’t work out.

The roster shows him at 6'8" 220 lbs. It would not be the first time that info on there was out of date (in hoops and in football).

in brief, very impressive upper body development! to be honest, the bf% numbers in the captions are exaggerated - 5% bodyfat is rare and actually unhealthy for any athlete outside of in-season bodybuilding - but it's clear louth has put on substantial muscle and lost body fat. as is often the case, the graphic focuses on the "popcorn muscles" (to quote bart scott) of the upper body, and i would like to see his lower body development. that's where true strength on the low block emanates. all that said, this is really impressive development in pretty short order. jehyve was mentioned and we should also add big pat whearty to the list of those who underwent phantasmagoria while at hc. it's encouraging that neither jehyve nor big pat developed as quickly as louth has seemed to develop. strength and conditioning science - and nutrition - are rapidly evolving. i have no clue what louth's regimen is, but we've come a long way since big pat's diet of stacks of kimball chicken breasts and whole milk and manual labor at the quarry!

'twould be interesting to know how the body fat measurements mentioned were taken. It's all relative, really; as long as one method was used for the "before" and the same method for the "after". www.healthline.com/nutrition/ways-to-measure-body-fat#TOC_TITLE_HDR_4No way it's based on simple weight, sex and height; which is what pcp's do when they give you a physical. Losing 17 pounds doesn't change things that much. Dado raises a good point about what he looks like from the waist down- that's where I thought he looked more like a football player than a basketball player standing on the sidelines. In any case, I'm happy he put in the work and whatever road he takes as a player, we should all appreciate the effort and encourage him.

Thanks, Dado. I saw Pat W.at the NYS Empire games before his senior HS season. He was the skinniest player of all the teams’ athletes. Maybe, 180, 190 at best. And 6’10”. His skill level was solid, but I thought he would have a tough time competing at that weight. I guess he did too.

His skill level was solid, but I thought he would have a tough time competing at that weight. I guess he did too. pat's story was pretty amazing indeed, hoops. i trained with him a few times early on his career when i was still at hc and he was about as weak as you would expect someone 6'10 and less than 200 lbs at the time to be. he left hc at a solid 250lbs and quite likely the physically strongest basketball player in the history of the program to this day. the only player since who visually seems to have stacked up in terms of strength might have potentially been rj, who hopefully is teaching the value of strength and physical play to our current players. one of my favorite moments as an hc fan was watching the surprise on the faces of drew gooden and nick collison in the ncaa tournament, who likely expected to have their way with us, when they ran into the brick wall frontcourt of big pat and timmy szatko. we dominated them down low and pat basically had his way with them. p.s. - pat's having an older brother who was a physical monster (used to post on the old holy cross rivals board as "chiefbeef") and bouncer at a bar here in maryland likely helped his trajectory!

Does the bookstore sell this workout and diet program?? Any chance it could work for a guy in his mid-60s (who still wears a 34 belt)?

Speaking of another 6 months of speed and conditioning, anyone know how much of the summer the hoops team spends on campus. I know they typically spend a few weeks helping at summer basketball camps but that is two weeks out of 14-15 weeks.

I believe that some/many attend a summer session Seems to me I remember Wade’s father tweeting that he was off to HC for June 1 shortly after his his graduation. I don’t how many weeks of the summer he spent at HC.
