The NCAA Rules Committee proposed five rules for TPTB to consider. The one that really caught my eye was four fouls in a half or six in a game results in disqualification. Five would no longer be the standard for dq. The committee proposed the pros also be tried in the 2022 NIT. Another said flopping would be a technical foul.

They need to move the five fouls up to six. The 5 is ridiculous. Who cares how many fouls you have it hurts your team by taking them.
You want the best players on the court for as long as you can. You see games 2 quick fouls and they take the player out.

Years ago the already physical Bjg East experimented with the 6 foul rule. It was a disaster. Far more fouls, more stoppages of play, even more physical play

Might help mid majors with thinner benches against majors with stacked rosters.

Is Coach K going to protest the "no flopping" rule? Technicals for flopping might cost the Blue Devils a half dozen points a game....

Might help mid majors with thinner benches against majors with stacked rosters. This would give the power teams an extra foul, keeping their stars on the court longer

If 6 fouls work in 48 minute NBA games, 5 fouls is enough for 40.

Don't ignore the DQ for four fouls in a half (if that is still in there). Two early fouls might still get you yanked in the first half with little chance for return until almost halftime.

Think it will be referred to as the ACC flop rule? ...or the Duke flop rule? Of course, the ref still has to determine what is a flop and if they showed they could do that, the rule might not be needed in the first place.

The guy who used to do the radio for the Celtics was really good at identifying flops before they were common Stanislovski. Over the years, we've had a few WCHC announcers on the board. I encouraged them that when an opposing player drew a foul, the call should be be something like, "the sophomore drama major draws the charge" Most felt it wasn't professional

"Professional" - perhaps not. But, it was most entertaining (as was the Stranislovski reference)!

Too bad they didn't have that laugh track playing at that game.

Anyone remember the obvious flop by an Army basketball player in the 2016 Patriot League Semi final game. The closes Holy Cross player was at least two feet away from him. It was so bad, the ref immediately called a technical.

It was so bad, the ref immediately called a technical. I was at that massacre, I mean game. And I dont remember it. I do remember us giving Army the corner three all day playing the 1-3-1 and they just completely bricked open look after open look. I think we held Army to 12 points in second half. And IIRC, we were up 24-11 at half over Lehigh in the chip, meaning we allowed 23 opposing points in 40 minutes of basketball.

More fouls available will almost certainly impact the refs subliminally... more fouls to give means refs can call a tighter game and not have it result in players being DQ-ed as fast. That, and players having more to give means they'll play a bit more physically. I see more whistles, more stoppage, uglier games.
Ban all flopping for eternity.

I'd like to see unlimited fouls, with a penalty imposed after 5...Perhaps 2 free throws and the ball on a foul by a player who has committed 5 fouls..Everybody stays in the game....

I think fouls and disqualifications are to free up the flow of the game... would unlimited turn it into a wrestling match with very tall free throw shooters? 3 fouls/ half... 6 total before a dq, would seem to impact the officiating... more fouls called in the first half... a good thing?
