Did HC have a formal AI for athletes prior to the PL? Nope. And a stubborn fact regarding HC and the Patriot League is that our academic reputation was higher before we joined the PL (and adopted an AI). On another front, the very idea that President Vincent Rougeau would accept kids (with or without an AI) that couldn't academically cut the mustard is (IMHO) farfetched. I've never liked the PL AI because it takes discretion away from the college presidents.

Great now I'm down the rabbit hole...CAA football by 2027. **Delaware to FBS North Division: Maine, UNH, Rhody, HC, Albany, Stony Brook, Fordham South Division: Nova, Monmouth, Towson, W&M, Richmond, Hampton, Elon All right I'm done...Beat Merrimack 2022! While the PL is not my dream residence for HC in any sport, I'd rather leave things as they are than be wedded to the likes of Albany, Stony Brook, Towson and Hampton.. Rhody, Maine and Monmouth don't excite me much either. At least in the PL, we're with like institutions as far as size, history and academic standing.. Amen, brother. And that's exactly why HC will stay in the PL long term.

The Patriot, then Colonial, League as first constituted with HC, Colgate, Bucknell, Lafayette, Lehigh, William & Mary and the academies was perfect. Unfortunately, W&M bailed, eventually resulting in the bastardization of the league with American, BU and especially Loyola.

The Colonial League also had Davidson for a short time at its start but they bailed as well.

Didn't the PL also have Towson briefly as a member? Ah, what might have been.

Didn't the PL also have Towson briefly as a member? Ah, what might have been. Yes, for six years. Wiki has a full rundown of current and former members. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriot_League

Incoming recruit Sam Slade (St. Peter’s Prep) placed 2nd in the 55M dash a couple of days ago in a competitive meet in the Armory. He ran a nifty 6.50. www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/meet/453390/results/m/1/55mI’d be surprised if any PL football recruits this cycle are quicker. For the track folks out there, Sam has a HS teammate who is (much) faster (6.35 PR). That kid popped an indoor 200 of 21.26 (!!) at the same meet. WOW.

Didn't the PL also have Towson briefly as a member? Ah, what might have been. Towson was a football affiliate out of convenience at the time. They were non-scholarship before they joined the A-10.

Who says that Siderman is gone ? Could still be in the mix..... Football staff is locking in another outstanding recruiting class. By next Monday, more commits should come about. Marco posted on his IG story that he committed to Tarleton State but there is no official post on his Twitter or elsewhere. Very Strange. Looks like he'll begin the season as the backup --

Tarleton brought in a portal guy, who was the #2 QB at Kentucky last year. "Chose Kentucky over offers from Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Maryland, Washington State, West Virginia, Marshall and Duke."

QB is a tough position given that, at most schools, there’s one QB and you’re either the guy or you’re not. At most other positions, there are more potential paths to regular playing time. Same with goalies in all the sports with goalies.

Loyola Academy in Illinois is playing on ESPN. Their QB, Jake Stearney, who reportedly had some FBS offers (Northern Iowa and Bowling Green) and other FBS interest, is going to Colgate next year. Looks like a very solid and smart player. And Colgate is getting plenty of free advertising on the broadcast.

Loyola is playing St. Xavier. Two schools that have been and should continue to be high on the HC recruiting radar for talent.
Loyola is leading at the half, 34-7.
