HC is recruiting UP! This is the type of kid that would be a natural South Dakota State or Northern Iowa signee. Recruiting to WIN National Championships NOT just Patriot League Championships. Saw Coach Chesney in the picture with the kid. When "ANY" head coach is taking pictures with you it means something.

FWIW, it doesn't look like either of those schools (or any of the 1-AA powers from the midwest) have offered Kilstrom.

High school players in the Class of 2022 are in a real tough spot due to covid. Not a lot of spots because of the current players with extra eligibility.

There was also a Blake Youngblood, also a WR, from Vandegrift HS in Austin, Texas the prior year--perhaps he moved from Austin to Dallas Nice highlight reel- he's elusive, particularly good with the YAC. Takes short steps (or so it seems to this non-expert) and thus cuts well. 247sports.com/Player/Blake-Youngblood-46114155/

3 verbals:
TE - only other offer from No Colorado QB - only other offer Valpo WR - only others Gtown and Western Illinois
Not impressed. Sorry - I call them as I see them and I follow this quite closely.
They didn’t outrecruit anyone for these 3 kids

Youngblood is 1st team all-state in lacrosse. Another Sluka. The skill set that crosses over from lacrosse to football seems to be something that HC has found to be a valuable trait. Sluka, Rivers and Youngblood all played lacrosse at a high level in high school.

I don’t even try to get impressed until the NLIs are signed. Too many opportunities to lose a recruit at the last minute. Offers and verbals are just too nebulous, especially at our level though I do believe Chesney’s dynamism can get most of them over the line and onto campus.

Great point--I wonder what our "retention rate" has been over the years. So do we end up getting NLI's from 90% of our verbals?

That's about right. Each year if you have a 20 person class you might get 2 de commits. So I'd say 90% is directionally accurate.

They didn’t outrecruit anyone for these 3 kids That's a good point - since our goal is for national relevance at the FCS level we should certainly see a pattern of beating out CAA schools for recruits. Of course there will be an undiscovered diamond in the rough here and there of that caliber.

Hey hchoops why don’t you spare us with your not being impressed with what the winningest program at HC is doing and go help the bball coach go find some players to with that 4 and 100 crap basketball program. They could use your “expertise “ 😎😂😂

While this is true for 21 of the 22 positions on the field, their results have been sub-par at the most important position in football today - QB. Taking a QB this early in the class with only one other offer from Valpo is another questionable move at that position.
