bfoley's pretty accurate on that prediction...20-25% is a fantastic percentage.

bfoley's pretty accurate on that prediction...20-25% is a fantastic percentage. And remember this is off campus and at night in late October.

The percentage is likely to be higher given that its Family Weekend.
Parents weekend hockey game at the DCU some years ago drew well. Without parents, far fewer students journeyed to the DCU for another hockey game.

bfoley's pretty accurate on that prediction...20-25% is a fantastic percentage. ADMB's prediction is hype... but knowledgeable hype? What would the %'s be to reach a sellout? Students & families Alumni & associates* Colgate contingent Locals * a significant number of NE alums are not season tix holders

750 students w/parents (one or two) is 2K. Another 500 students going solo gets us up to 2,500. That's 40% of the student body, btw., when you combine it with the kids w/parent(s). Add to that our usual non-student crowds for a Colgate game (alumni, locals, Colgate folks), which is around 4K at most. Increase that by 50% due to the Polar novelty, and that's 6K.....so all in all, 8,500.
Colgate folks who travel have a choice this year if they want to come to Beantown; going earlier in the season typically is a better bet for good weather; however, they'd have to subject themselves to an awful beating at BC.

That's a good analysis. A few siblings/grandparents might tag along on family weekend also. That was probably the idea when the name got changed from parents weekend to family weekend. I am a little concerned that Polar Park is trying to pay off the whole nut in one night by the prices for tickets quoted online. Perhaps they are able to project a full or near full house based on pre-sales and are pricing remaining tickets accordingly. But I hope somebody explained "Spags Mentality" to Larry and Dr. Charles.

RE: "Spag's Mentality"; Worcester Galleria went bust because it was charging 99 cents to park.

Yea, but they get a chance to see their squad play against the BIG boys.....Just like you guys rave about playing BC or UConn to make sure you are there. How many of you guys are going to go see HC play CCSU or Merrimack? (Just an example of two schools close to UConn or BC that play FCS ball)

You only get 11 games a year. I'll be at least tuning in to all of them. I like visiting popular places in the less crowded off-season so watching or attending games vs Merrimack or CCSU is fine with me.

I’m going to as many games as my schedule allows. Of course, with 4 kids each playing multiple sports this Fall, that may not be many.

Maybe a better example is HC playing at Syracuse and at Colgate in the same year. How many people are really going to want to spend two weekends in upstate New York?

...even more so if one game is early September and one is late October. Winter comes earlier there.

Having lived there for 9 years, in Syracuse, there are two seasons: Winter & the 4th of July. So, another reason to make the trip is to visit former neighbors (as we didn't actually see them for many months once the snow started to fall).

Got tickets today in Section 4 which is behind the visitors dugout on the baseball field. $30 each. Should be around the 30-35 yard line across from the HC bench. Pretty easy. Other option was the “Worcester Wall” which is on top of the RF wall but thought it might be too far from the field.

Got tickets today in Section 104 which is behind the visitors dugout on the baseball field. $30 each. Should be around the 30-35 yard line across from the HC bench. Pretty easy. Other option was the “Worcester Wall” which is on top of the RF wall but thought it might be too far from the field. You must mean section 4 because 104 is out in right field! !

Got my tickets today in section 4, as well. The section is almost sold out, as were several other sections. Would not be surprised if this is a sell out and a tough ticket to get for those who don't buy early.

Nah, I think I heard that WooSox are using Holy Cross Athletic Department as consultants on their ticketing and billing system. (For those who don't already realize this, I'm kidding.)

I'd be surprised if this game didn't sell out. Most Family Weekend crowds at Fitton are usually 10K+, the novelty of Polar Park, the team (God willing) will be a having a good season etc. Not sure what the "temporary seating" plans are but I could see a crowd in the 15K range given good weather etc.

Not sure how a sellout will be defined but I don’t see the crowd being under 10K.
