Has anyone been to a WooSox game already? What bars and restaurants have opened up near the park that are good? Trying to do some advanced scouting for pregame activities. BTW: For those who are planning on staying overnight downtown that night you would be wise to secure a hotel room soon as one of my friends have great difficulty securing a room that weekend.

My plan would be to get there early, park the car and get some grub at a place that is walkable to the stadium. Any recommendations that fit the bill, let me know.

My plan would be to get there early, park the car and get some grub at a place that is walkable to the stadium. Any recommendations that fit the bill, let me know. The closest big parking lot near the park is at the hockey rink complex across from St. John's Church which is at 44 Temple St. The entrance to the lot is on the opposite street to the church. I believe that street is either Pond or Winter with Harrison a third possibility. (if you are coming from HC on 290, take the Grafton St. Exit, #14, go left at the lights, stay to the left of a small traffic island as you pass under 290 and the rinks and accompanying parking lot is straight ahead. Literally 2 minutes from 290. Plan B might be the Union Station parking garage which is behind St John's Church.). Walk one minute to Green St. which is to the left of the church and parallel to the ballpark. Head left on Green and you'll find multiple places to eat. Worcester Market is at the of Green right in Kelley Square and has several eateries and the Wachusett Brewery. It is two minutes from the main entrance to the ballyard. Directly across from Worc Market is one of Worcester's oldest bars, the Hotel Vernon. Babe Ruth drank at the HV. The HV bar has recently been renovated and if you go there, make sure to go the backroom to see the replica of a ship. One other tidbit on the HV is it had a speak easy in the basement during Prohibition.

Went to the WooSox game today, rained out after 2 innings, what else is new! It has rained here in the Worcester area every day in July! HC Football players running the security checks at the gate we entered! I don't know who they were..Great park to watch a game..Football should be just fine there..

It looks like the Colgate game is a few seats here and there away from being a sellout.

What will they charge for temporary bleachers...that are on the 50 yard line?
More or less than chairbacks that are behind home plate or in the right field corner?

Do we know for sure that they are bringing in temporary bleachers in what would be CF and RF of the baseball field? That was not offered to me as an option when I called for tickets.

The sketch of the Polar Park configuration for football included supplemental seating. A sellout and indication of decent additional demand would probably have to be evident to go to the expense of bringing it in. It would be cool to have Holy Cross FB hold the all time attendance record for a while at least. Who knows how many seats/standing room tickets have been held back for WooSox season ticket holders, sponsors, HC, etc. So just because there aren't many tickets available online doesn't mean they are close to needing temporary bleachers. But hopefully interest will grow once students return to campus. Freshmen and Sophomores haven't had much chance to get to know each other well yet. Perhaps a year's absence from being able to attend HC football will make attending the games more desirable for all students.

That's a shame after how much effort the players and coaches put in and the college spends. I hope you don't have to take up photographing labs and libraries.🙂

I believe Colgate is allotted a minimum of 250 tickets as the visiting team per PL rules. HC coaches and players are also allotted 2 tickets each.

On the “broadcast” schedule, the game in Polar Park is listed on ESPN+ so that’s a lot cheaper than going to the game at premier prices or if you live far away.
That said, I already purchased my tickets and plan to be there in person.

At PolarPark.com the game is being billed as the EBW Classic presented by Christie Campus Health. All fixed seating is sold out but plenty of flexible general admission tickets are available.
I assume EBW stands for Edward Bennett Williams and Christie Campus Health is a vendor to HC. I hope CCH has a remedy to treat their twisted arm.🙂

Christie Campus refers to all the football stars from New Jersey on the HC team Linemen I presume. If Colgate fans want to watch the Raiders in New England and have a seat to sit in they will have to trudge to Alumni Stadium.

My first foray to Polar Friday night....tremendous facilty for baseball....there are a fair amount of spots to watch without fixed seating. Group of us 87ers went. We only had general admission tix, so we kept getting kicked out of seating ....the upside being we were able to take in the park from a lot of different angles.

Based upon where I envision the football field will be located, I would imagine the third base line seats give the best view of the field. There appear to be segregated areas on the upper level along the third base line (The Hanover Deck and DCU Club) that seem to be well-positioned for elevated views of the field and are tailor-made for private seating for select groups. I would expect the HC Gridiron Club and the Athletic Dept. to make those available to certain donors. I also heard nightmares about parking near the ballpark, but I was ale to park in the McGrath Lot on Salem St. with zero difficulty at a cost of $15. It was less than a 5 min. walk from there to the ballpark entrance.

My seats are supposed to be in the DCU Club section so very happy to hear they will be good seats.

Neither Holy Cross or Colgate or any Worcester College are current users of this timely service but Christie is growing fast. Perhaps they will gain face time with HC, Colgate or other Worcester area college decision makers in their luxury suite at Polar Park. Thanks for sponsoring the EBW Classic. This service gives colleges a surge capacity when stuff hits the fan. They say if you build a better mousetrap the world will beat a path to your door. I think it has been much easier dealing with the pandemic while retired than those in younger stages of life.

My original assumption that Christie Campus Health is an HC vendor was wrong as usual. I caught some of tonight's Woo Sox game on the radio. CCH has a commercial on the broadcast, they are sponsors of the Woo Sox. The Sox have a plethora of advertisers. A mile away from Fitton Field.
