I happened to be seated on an end seat and took my own short videos and, yes, the Bishop did not wear a mask not only on stage but during the procession in and the procession out. Funny, I was "blind" to him being the only one as I guess I was distracted by his episcopal attire.

Just got back from the high school game. St John’s down 5 with 30 seconds left at the Xaverian 2 yard line. Intercepted 101 yard interception return. Xaverian 28 St John’s 16 St John’s had 2 touchdown passes over 60 yards. What a great game and a really good crowd. Sorry for the bad footage. it looks better on the phone but hey I got the play and I tried

Yes. Upon closely re-reading the definitions, it was probably both flaunting and flouting. When you are the only person in a procession who does not follow the request by the host....... The disregard was noticeable. If you are sitting in the back of the room it’s is flouting, if you are in a procession it is..... Thank you for providing additional thought to ponder.

Maybe he popped some Ivermectin before the event to protect himself. I understand the Bishop is a conservative in the Church but I hope he is following the Pope's lead and supporting public health measures.

Is this not just a continuation of this Bishop’s feud with HC ? It seems as if he is saying that Rougeau might be HC’s new President, but “I will continue to rule my fiefdom no matter who the HC President is, especially a layman.”

If you read the game recap on the Colgate website there is a nice action photo by Brian Foley. How did the Media Relations staff treat the working press at Polar? Was any Boston Media covering the game? The Media Relations staff has always been fine just a bad position that the stadium put us in with parking at the Common Garage. Not really the problem with them but the WooSox parking situation is a mess. I was on my second game of the day (third of the weekend) so I was so out of it so at least Colgate did nothing in the game to worry me. Only media there was the telegram photographer and writer from what I could tell.

I'm the one who made the comparison to Csonka first and I too saw him play and there is a fair comparison. No one is saying that Oliver compares to Larry the NFL player because Peter hasn't had any post grad playing time and may not ever but we are comparing college against comparable teams. And, LC was as big as most linemen often bigger (like against Holy Cross) in his day and Peter, a tad smaller than most linemen. But if anyone doesn't see the power comparison, ability to run over and through would-be tacklers, he/she hasn't been watching. And, as I posted previously, he has a greater ability to make tacklers miss. Csonka didn't simply because he didn't need to. Actually, with his combination of power and open field speed he reminds me more of Earl Campbell. In a similar vein, last week I resisted the urge to make an observation about basketball frosh Austin Lewis,. Based on a quick look at his style of play and body type only, he reminded me a bit of Loyola's Santi Aldama. But, I didn't feel like reading on other rival boards how I was comparing some unknown, unproven frosh to a NBA draft pick.

Maybe they took the mask off just for a few media relations candid shots for the Telegram. After the picture was taken, it was time to mask up. Unless you were in the suite, you do not know the full extent of how long they were unmasked… Ordinarily the pols and VIPs frantically don the masks when the cameras show up. Projecting that virtue, as it were. (Some hysterical videos of some rather prominent folks engaging in these theatrics are all over the internet.) So this would be a novel twist. Quite a novel one. Perhaps this means the fully vaccinated HC kids in the fully vaccinated HC classrooms may soon have an option to choose to go maskless.

I find it curious that the president would be maskless indoors like that with a photographer around. The student population likely has followed the masking policy more strongly than him.

Lucchino was also maskless during the half-time interview. He was probably recently tested

Unless you were in the suite, you do not know the full extent of how long they were unmasked. The real travesty regarding flaunting a mask request came on Friday afternoon when everyone, except one, was wearing a mask at the Hart Center. If masking is of utmost importance and prevents the spread of corona, then does corona not spread during photo ops? Why should they be removed under any circumstance?

Was the family weekend game played off campus in part because of the more lenient Covid policies ?

Was the family weekend game played off campus in part because of the more lenient Covid policies ? Interesting question - although HC changed the rules just before the game, so effectively the same rules were in effect at Polar that would have been in effect at Fitton. Unvaccinated parents were free to see their daughters play soccer this weekend. I spent most of the 4th quarter in the DCU room. Maybe people were following the mask rules earlier, but by the 4th quarter there were basically no masks to be seen

Holy Cross' policy was, and I presume still is, that when the infection rate becomes very low, masks no longer need be worn indoors by fully vaccinated students. There are a few exceptions, e.g., masks must be worn at testing stations, health services, and one or two others. On Sept 21, HC told students that masks would continue to be worn indoors There was a spike in student infections in September, and the positivity rate in Worcester County was high. The HC rate was reduced to a very low level by early October, but then Fall Break occurred. If there are no positive cases in the first week of November and the positive rate in Worcester County falls, then perhaps the going maskless indoors policy will be put into effect. If it is, going masked indoors will likely be re-instituted post-Thanksgiving. HC does not require social distancing indoors. Just for the sake of splitting hairs. . . Is an act of charity really an act of charity if it's mandated?

Splitting a split hair, IMO, yes. If a vaccine or mask is "mandated," it really isn't, because everyone has the opportunity to simply not get the vaccine and/or mask and just not go to wear the requirement is being enforced. If it's not charity, it's sort of like charitable purgatory - you aren't quite there but your approaching the right place.

I think you need something to be more of an "event" than just a game. The first ever football game in Worcester's shiny new stadium made it an "event" If this becomes an annual thing, rest assured there will be diminishing returns. The last time I remember a game at the Centrum was UMass about 5 years ago. It would have been a good crowd at Hart. Pretty poor for the Centrum. There have been a bunch of games at the Centrum over the years. Enough so that it just isn't an "event"
The best chance of getting something like that at the Centrum would be to have HC win the PL the same year HC was hosting March Madness

Can you get 10K at DCU for HC Hoops? I don't know.
Football is much, much more popular and it is now the marquee sport at the school. It gets the most support by far and for multiple reasons...they win, the coach, etc.
It was the first at Polar Park but the experience will continue to bring large crowds....as long as the team continues to win.
This weekend was probably a trial by the WooSox to see how it will go. It was a HUGE success. They'll be more college and high school games next year. And it will be a blast.
