The Red Raider nickname and mascot of Radnor High School. www.nytimes.com/2021/06/30/style/radnor-raiders-football-high-school.html?searchResultPosition=1Radnor is on the Main Line (western suburbs of Philadelphia), just west of Villanova. I was surprised at how diverse it has become (from when I grew up on the Main Line). << That's according to the article's profile of the student body. However, the Census Bureau says Radnor is about 80 percent White, and 8+ percent Asian. Median household income in 2019 was $127,000+ dollars. For comparison, that's about the same as the median household income in Westwood MA.

Would think it might be far easier and much more productive for the college and all concerned to drown out this divisive debate if we simply developed a culture of competing and winning on the courts and fields of play.
In the process of doing so, we can elevate the Cross and the mission and vision for Alma Mater.
I don’t discount though that there are very real forces on campus for which the concepts of “competing” and “winning” are anathema.
That is both sad and pathetic.
Let’s Win!!

I must confess that I use the term "woke" intentionally because of the knee-jerk reaction it gets from some. I believe I am informed and I do not use it out of ignorance. So many of the arguments I hear from some who say they are in that group are weak and poorly thought out (if thought is part of the process of forming those ethnocentric ideas at all). OK, carry on.

Well, the thread I started has meandered down the road to a discussion of the Crusader logo/mascot.
While I am sure there will be great disappointment among some that I won't re-hash my well-known position on this decision, I will say that I did participate in Fr. B's farewell by writing a note to him the theme being that I did not agree with all of his actions and decisions but shared my oft-used quote from TR that "It is not the critic who counts . . . . " I offered that he was more "pastoral" than his predecessors and that I wished him well.
Oh, and I dropped a note to Vince Rougeau as well welcoming him to Holy Cross and warning him about the blessing and curse of Holy Cross alums.

Many of us on Crossports enjoy an engaged Socratic discussion on a wide range of topics.
Glad to see that many are mischievous and cheeky in creating dialogue. One of the reasons that this forum is unique, especially among our peers, both academically and athletically. During the doldrums of the past year, Crossports continues to provide entertainment. An apt description of our cohort would be ......Rascals at work.
Looking forward to the changes on the horizon, not with trepidation, but with excitement. They will continue to make HC a vital and engaged community in an effort to keep HC in the forefront of US Colleges.

"a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." -William Shakespeare.
Who cares what the logo looks like. As TD128 says, "Let's Win!"

Another thing of note. Obviously Fr. Boroughs was determined to leave his religious stamp on HC . The Joyce Contemplative Center, the recent statue of St Francis Xavier are permanent statements of the Catholic nature of HC. Given Father's history & interest in Catholic ministry these moves were predictable. Many would find comfort in his affirmation on campus of HCs Catholic mission.

To empathize HC Jesuit legacy, in a visual image, next to Hogan and Healy, the statue of St. Francis Xavier is accompanied by statues of St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Peter Faber. The three founders of the Society of Jesus.
