News articles about this mentioned t hat Sen Joe Manchin of West Virginia was one of the dignitaries present. Can anyone confirm that? I wonder what the connection is, if any. Manchin supposedly advocated with Trump for Cousy's Presidential Medal of Freedom and is a long time admirer.

Manchin spoke and talked about how he advocated for the medal of freedom.

I take back the supposedly for the Medal of Freedom and will transfer it to Cousy's vaccination. A staff member of the City Manager called the Cooz and made an appointment for him to receive his shot at the Worcester Senior Center, well within the eligible time for his age bracket. Manchin was among a few connected people who were rumored to have put a little birdie in the ear of the City Manager on behalf of Cousy, unbeknownst to Cooz, but it ended up being retired T&G sports writer Bill Ballou who notified the office that Bob still hadn't been vaccinated.

With the health and longevity of Cousy, Ron Perry, Sr. and Togo and with Tom Heinsohn continuing to work as a broadcaster up until his death, it didn't feel like we would be losing him anytime soon. But now I wonder if a statue of Heinsohn near the Cooz in front of the Luth might have been a nice gesture while he was alive. It's unlikely HC will produce any others with the pro careers of Cousy and Heinsohn.

It will never happen because they are so expensive. Fordham has a Ram statue and 7 blocks of granite. Syracuse has Jim Brown, Floyd Little, Yale has a bulldog statue. Brown has a bear statue.

Nichols College has almost a full size statue of a Bison. Not very expensive in the big scheme of things if the subject is worth it.

The Cousy Statue dedication was a great event for Worcester.
Other than the Cooz my favorite was the great Satch Sanders. Eloquent as always and looked like he could suit up and play tomorrow.

With props and respects to Ron Maheu ‘64 who passed earlier this year and was the visionary for the Holy Cross Ring of Honor, I think Fitton Field’s Ring of Honor display celebrating our past greats compares very favorably to any other college or university. In fact, compared to those schools with which we compete, I don’t think there is a close second but I’ll admit to being biased.
Plans for further induction and to enhance the luster connected with the Ring of Honor over the coming years will unequivocally further elevate the greatness and the tradition of our Holy Cross Crusader Football program.
