What does '04 mean? YOB? Are hockey recruits being grouped like horses eligible for the Kentucky Derby now? Date of birth

Two from Canada, two from Boston suburbs. I hope we got a "hometown discount" from the two nearby players, meaning they chose HC even though they had offers from programs a little better but in Minnesota or some far off place. I might just be overemphasizing this factor, but aren't we one step ahead of the game in recruiting when we don't have to first define what Holy Cross is to recruits?

Elias is the 8th leading scorer for the Cowichan Capitals of the BCHL. He is a Massachusetts native.

Elias is the 8th leading scorer for the Cowichan Capitals of the BCHL. He is a Massachusetts native. from Weston and St. Sebastian's. Average sized D with good puck movement. Captain his senior year. 39 pts in 78 career NEPSAC prep games. Just checked his BCHL stats. Not bad. 9 pts in 17 games on pace for about 25-30 in 50 games. Good get for Riga, IMO, good size for AHA also.

This class better be HE worthy or this experiment with women's hockey may be doomed - while we're all focused on football the women's team has lost 8 straight and is 2-13-1 overall (1-11 HE). no more excuses about being a new schollie program - it's time for better results (or more close-competitive losses)

I have never seen a single post blaming Women's Hockey East for HC's poor performance compared to what feels like a thousand blaming the Patriot League for other HC teams poor performance, and a few blaming the AHA for men's hockey poor performance.

6’2” forward from British Columbia in his second BCHL season. Has 10 points in 12 games this year. Appears Riga may have recruited his brother to Quinnipiac.

Looks like both Gagno brothers are coming to Worcester. I guess Quinnipiac didn’t work out.

The Gagnos are almost Irish twins. 14 months apart. Looks like Brody never went to Q.

I have never seen a single post blaming Women's Hockey East for HC's poor performance compared to what feels like a thousand blaming the Patriot League for other HC teams poor performance, and a few blaming the AHA for men's hockey poor performance. I am sure if the women were in NEWHA, we would be blaming the recruiting competition from Hockey East teams, but would probably be winning some conference games, beating the occasional ECAC foe and getting our behinds kicked by HE games. We have a great workout and athletic facility and while our arena is not top-tier, it seems to be better than most NEWHA teams (Franklin Pierce hosted us from the Winchendon School rink). I wonder how much the academic component is making it difficult for Lachapelle. I guess one question would be, how different are we academically and admissions wise from PC, Merrimack, BC, BU, etc in Hockey East. I have to think we have a recruiting issue. We have a great defensive system, have for years, but can't seem to score. I wonder if the defensive strategy, intended to limit opposing scoring chances down low, is hampering our breakouts and offensive output. Oh well! I would like to see more NE Prep and USA hockey connections signing on the dotted line for HC. Pete Vanbuskirk was able to draw quasi-D1 talent to HC playing in D3 ECAC East and was at the top of that league more often than not. Many of the team, my wife included, had some D1 offers. During my time at HC, I believe the women's hockey team had the best winning percentage of all sports. If we took a look at our women's hockey commitments the way Breezy and DHarry so meticulously put together for our football message board, would we find many other D1 offers? Or is HC/NEWHA the only D1 offers for some of these young women?

I would hope that Holy Cross would be more attractive than some HE schools for some players. We should be able to offer some advantages overall to Merrimack, UNH, Maine for some prospects.
Also I believe that unlike basketball, hockey scholarships can be partial like in football so we might have a chance to offer a larger scholarship to a recruit offered by a BC, BU or Providence as well as Holy Cross. If we build up step by step, hockey is a sport unlike basketball but closer to FCS football, where a non big time school can make some waves.
There is a strategic argument for putting resources toward football and hockey despite the traditional emphasis on basketball as the marquee HC sport. Of the three main spectator/revenue sports, basketball is the hardest to produce a national contender from a small liberal arts college.
HC FB is in the NCAA tournament for the fourth season in a row and AIC has been in the NCAA hockey tournament multiple seasons in a row so those two sports offer potential for a small college.

Disagree - we're doing just fine in the latest cycle and I don't think recruits make a decision based on such a list in any way
