They are nearly done, --finishing with the road that connects McCarthy Lane and City View.
The poles at the very south end of the lot may be the electric charging stations. I believe there are a dozen or so stations being installed.

Do you know what is behind the series of yellow poles on the parking lot island on the south side of McCarthy Lane before City View Street?

To me it looks like permanent barriers surrounding a utility box perhaps to prevent runaway buses on the way to/from the Luth from crashing into and knocking out service to the facility and/or campus. The posts are likely concreted in but are spaced apart that repair people can easily gain access to the box. Again, just a guess but I've seen these elsewhere. Phreek will either know or may be doing research as I write.

Do you know what is behind the series of yellow poles on the parking lot island on the south side of McCarthy Lane before City View Street? My guess is either an electrical box or a regulator tfor he high pressure natural gas pipeline. They apparently will not finish tonight. They are paving McCarthy Lane, east of the road between between the Hart and the PCPA.

Workers are out bright and early on a Sunday morning and looks like they are measuring for the striping of the lot.

They are definitely marking it up for striping the parking lot! We have a late morning appointment in Worcester tomorrow (Monday) and will try to get some photos on the way back.....

Well, somebody has to keep tabs on these guys! Getting ready for Mass but got to already speak to my Big Blue Bug hitman to rid the yard of my Cicada Killers (a killer of a killer is good, right?) which my pal 45 has seen my pictures. As the Marines used to advertise, I've accomplished more before most people are up.

You might be right. Not having served (4-F, long story, but not bone spurs!), my memory of those commercials only captures the gist of the message, not who the messenger was.

I changed my mind. I donโt want to be the Hart Zamboni driver anymore. I want to drive the steam roller - even the smaller one - doing the parking lots. ๐ I'm getting you a Tonka truck for Christmas. ๐

Some guy was riding his bike (bicycle, not short for motorcycle) up and down the new poured and striped parking lot a few minutes ago. Just weaving back and forth. Couldn't tell if a student, faculty or local. I'm sure he was just testing for smoothness.

The interest by some in staring at a web cam watching a parking lot being paved & striped is very odd to say the least.

As promised.... The new lot does look beautiful, all striped now! You can actually see it better from the webcam. I did not see any "charging stations", but maybe they will be added later. There are more bases for pole lighting at the top of the parking lot. Will all look much better when the landscaping is fully complete! Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted_

Since you can only add 3 attachments in a post, this one is a standalone picture. It is of the East side of the PPAC, something that cannot be seen from any of the webcams... We also took a ride around the Louth and was somewhat surprised that on the East side where there previously was an "outdoor skating rink" there is now a large parking lot! ! IIRC this "outdoor skating rink" was set up to provide an outdoor area for students to get some exercise last year during Covid and I think at a cost of $50 to $60k. Well, unless my eyes are failing, it is now a decent sized parking lot that was filled with vehicles this morning! Attachment Deleted

HCFC45, thanks as always for the photos.
The presentation to the Planning Board said that PCPA (and the new Hogan lot) would result in 191 spaces, if memory serves. There is not 191 new spaces in the Hogan lot, so they may be counting spaces at the Luth outdoor rink, and spaces on the east side of the PCPA.

If you look closely at the first of the 3 photos, the one with the stop sign, you will notice the striped parking spaces on the right side of the picture. The parking spaces are on both sides of the road going down towards Figge.

The parking spaces are on both sides of the road going down towards Figge. Okay, that would account for more spaces. And I know from a drawing, there are spaces for HC staff on the east side of the PCPA. ----- Which allows me to return to a first thought re: the new spaces on the east side of Luth. These are for the broadcast trucks for ESPN, CBS, NBC, Fox, when there is a nationally broadcast game from Mt. St. James. Great foresight by ADNP and ADMB. Of course, Fr. Brooks would turn over in his grave if he knew, but the Jebbies' rule on College Hill is in the rear-view mirror!!
