It looks like the Big 12 is about to poach the AAC for 3 of its top members. UCF, Houston and Cincy. BYU is also in the mix. It will be interesting to see what if any effect, it has on Eastern Schools Temple and Navy.

It will be interesting to see what if any effect, it has on Eastern Schools Temple and Navy. The AAC is in fine shape. Plenty of options for them to fill the four spots left open by UCONN, UCF, Houston and Cincinnati. I think they should add Charlotte, UAB, Rice and Marshall. Beyond that, Georgia State, Buffalo, UT-San Antonio and Old Dominion would all be possible options. Unlikely but the idea of Air Force going there as a football affiliate is there. CUSA will be in worse shape after it gets raided by the AAC.

They may have options but they may not be good ones.

Like not even close.

Correct. That's why I think that AAC football combined with either Big Sky or Summit for other sports would be an interesting idea for Air Force to chew on.

On the one hand, I wouldn't rate the AAC in football sans Houston, UCF and Cincinnati better than the Mountain West. So why would Air Force join that league other than to be with Navy and, perhaps in football only; Army, if there was mutual interest in the Cadets joining that league? On the other hand, there would be a ready made spot in the WCC for Air Force's other sports once BYU moves to the AAC.

Not quite. They play in the AHL. And the Southern Conference for men's lacrosse.

I never understood why Air Force continues to play in Atlantic Hockey.
Do they really feel that they wouldn't be competitive enough to play in the NCHC? Or is there another reason?

And the Southern Conference for men's lacrosse. Mountain West doesn't sponsor either sport...just like UConn was an associate member of the Big East when they were in the AAC. Liberty is an associate member in Field Hockey in the Big East and Monmouth, Stanford, Cal, and UC-Davis in America East field hockey.

It seems to me that pretty much everyone outside the Big 10 plays in a special hockey conference More expensive, but less travel time if players take individual F-18's to games

How can Vandy compete in the SEC especially with this expansion ? I know it was Georgia yday but the game was in Nashville with 62-0 final - they managed a total of 77 yards and 4 first downs in the game - they will cash a big media rights check but at what cost to the school’s reputation?

I will confidently predict that Vandy’s continued membership in the SEC won’t harm the school’s excellent reputation one iota.

Would welcome Vandy, Rice, Duke, UMass, UConn, and the Academies on our schedules- 2 games each year- and BC sprinkled in.
I know that might not meet well with others but it will help recruiting and let us challenge in the 1AA playoffs

Vanderbilt's acceptance rate is around 10%.....their endowment is $6 billion.....they are in Nashville..... They'll be just fine.
