Kalif 6 catches on 8 targets today. One fair catch. Looks like he pulled a hamstring on his last catch of the day with about 30 seconds left in the game.

From USA Today:
Raymond had the best game of his NFL career. The speedy wideout caught six passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, making Raymond the first Lion to top 100 receiving yards in a game all season. Raymond has steadily stepped up as the top WR on the roster and in this game he and QB Jared Goff finally started connecting.

Probably Kalif’s best catch from Sunday. Goff put it where he had to and Kalif went and got it.

Ahh - if Goff hits him perfectly in stride, it's a touchdown. He had to lay out for the sucker! Talk about giving the wrong guy the credit.

CBS Sports fantasy names Kalif a "Sleeper' in Fantasy this week...
'Raymond might be the best Lions receiver, and he has 15 combined targets in his past two games, with six catches in each outing. He just had eight targets in Week 7 at the Rams for six catches and 115 yards. And he has three games in his past five outings with at least 12 PPR points. We know the Lions are desperate for any wide receiver to step up, and Raymond might be the go-to option for Jared Goff behind D'Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson. The Eagles also have allowed three receivers to score at least 12 PPR points in the past two games'

Kalif has become a very common add in fantasy circles. My kids were all well ahead of the curve by drafting him.

Kalif has become a very common add in fantasy circles. My kids were all well ahead of the curve by drafting him. If Terry McLaurin is out (hamstring) or appears limited, I will be starting Kalif for the first time this year.

Jared Goff on Kalif: “I think I’ve been lucky to work with some really good receivers who practice hard and that’s the main thing,” Goff said Wednesday. “He practices hard. Cooper Kupp was the same. Robert Woods was the same. Brandin Cooks was the same. And Kalif is the same in that way where you know where he’s going to be, you can trust him, you can rely on him and he’s accountable. And that’s all you can ask for as a quarterback.” Dan Campbell on Kalif: “He was a dang good pickup for us in the spring and ‘Lif really embodies everything that we’re about, just everything that he’s made up of,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said. “He came through with some critical plays, some explosive catches (against the Rams), and here’s what probably doesn’t always show up to the naked eye is, man, that dude blocks every play. Like, he is blocking somebody every play, the safety, support player in these runs. And teammate catches the ball, he’s looking for a block. And on top of that, he’s a good returner so I’m glad we got him. And he is, he’s dependable is what he is.” www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2021/10/29/detroit-lions-kalif-raymond-wide-receiver/6182537001/

HC92 Thanks. Saw this article in the Detroit Free Press yesterday and wanted to pass it along on Crossports but didn’t know quite how to attach it to a post since I had the hard copy of the article not the electronic copy. This article is consistent with all of the previous articles about Kalif this year. The coaching staff really likes him. Hopefully he can maintain his starting position next year since it is almost certain that the Lions will look to improve their receiving corps in the off season through the draft and free agency.

For the first time in his career, Kalif seems to be on very solid footing with his club. He won’t be the #1 WR forever but I suspect they will continue to give him a meaningful role beyond this year.

Game is so bad Fox just switched games to SF vs. Bears (Lions now losing 38-0) - the NFL has many lousy teams

For Kalif's sake, I wish they had a better QB. Please. Goff was all pro 2 times & led his team to the Super Bowl

The o line couldn't block anybody today
Goff might not be great but he is certainly in the top half
No time means nothing downfield

For Kalif's sake, I wish they had a better QB. Please. Goff was all pro 2 times & led his team to the Super Bowl Goff is merely serviceable at best. He was a two-time pro bowler in a game most decent QB's have zero interest in participating after their clubs go deep in the playoffs, NOT all-pro which are best in the league. Big difference that perhaps you don't realize.

If he can't target his best WR, then they need a better (as in "more effective") quarterback.

Goff is fairly immobile and has a career QBR of 44 when under pressure. With the Rams, he had Todd Gurley, a good receiving corps and a good offensive line. Wasn’t under severe pressure much but, when he was, he didn’t do very well. With the Lions, he has a limited WR corps (excepting, of course, our fellow Crusader🙂) and an offensive line whose two Pro Bowlers (Taylor Decker and Frank Ragnow) are on the injured list. He has limited time to throw as efg72 pointed out but is taking too many sacks instead of throwing the ball away. Goff has more turnovers himself than 10 NFL teams have in total.
Jalen Hurts has not been particularly effective this yr. but he has escapability…an ingredient the Lions don’t have in a QB on the current roster but need in view of their weaknesses.
With 9 games left, it’s problematic that the Lions will win a game 🙁Perhaps KYCrusader can handicap for us.

I thought today was one of their best chances for a win. The fact that they got absolutely smoked makes me nervous for the rest of the season.

As for Goff, I think he’s okay but he does seem unwilling to take deep shots when they present themselves. As I only pay attention to Kalif, it seems like he is open well down the field a lot as Goff is looking all over for someplace to throw and he doesn’t let it go.

Not able to watch the Lions and the only time I've seen Goff is on the clips you guys post. How's his arm? Can he throw the long ball accurately when he has time?

This chart shows how many times NFL receivers faced 1 v 1 man coverage, how often they were open on those plays and how often they were targeted one those plays. Needless to say, Kalif’s open % was among the best in the league while his target % was very low. #freekalif
