We're solidly in the lower tier of the league according to the poll here - will we be surprised ?
2021 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Preseason Poll Navy – 154 (14 first-place votes) Boston University - 132 Colgate – 128 (5) Army West Point – 112 Loyola Maryland – 104 (1) Lehigh – 82 Lafayette – 77 Holy Cross – 46 Bucknell – 45 American – 20

Certainly...after all they rated HC ahead of both Bucknell (barely) and American (clearly).

American never should have adopted the original Washington Senators baseball team as their role model.🙂

I don't know anything about the HC soccer field, but I do know that there are many grass fields with super drainage systems that allow play to continue even with huge amounts of rain. I have seen Bucknell play immediately following a 3-inch rain, and there was no standing water at all on the field and no issues.

The natural turf on our soccer pitch and football field are the best I have seen and both are ‘crowned’ to facilitate drainage

Bison, I noticed that Bucknell Men's Soccer Coach Brendan Nash resigned immediately for personal reasons after 25 years at the school. I hope he is OK.

Thanks. There are some medical issues and hopefully he will be OK after some time away.
Nash had been at Bucknell as head coach since 1999 and for a while as an assistant prior to that. His predecessor started in 1967. So there have been two head coaches in 55 seasons.
Nash has done a good job there considering he has never had scholarships.

I hope UML is a powerhouse this season - 2-zip final with 21-2 margin in shots on goal They went undefeated during the spring season in America East going 4-0 and 5-2-1 overall before losing in the conference semis which they were hosting.

UMass Lowell's roster shows eight players from Europe, most of the rest from Massachusetts. HC, one player from Ontario, most of the team from the Northeast. UMass team physically stronger, one HC defender pushed to the side twice on the same play as the UMass player advanced toward the goal.
Watched the first half, HC looked as if it had practiced all of one week. Lot of disjointed play. UMass field is artificial turf, and looks in need of replacement.
Appeared to be a good crowd in the stands, not socially distanced.

we have a frosh goalie - not the kind of distinction you necessarily want:
Dubin's 19 saves were the most by a Crusader in a single game in over 16 years. Dubin also tied for the seventh-most saves in a single game by any Division I player in the last five years.

I don't know, seems to suggest she's a damn good one, defense otherwise, not so much.

Well, if a rebuild is necessary, the best starting point is a talented young (first year) goalie. Now develop a defense to limit shots on goal, then an offense that can keep the ball at the other end of the field for more of the game. One thing at a time.

A good goalie can definitely keep you competitive. But, if we can’t put any pressure on at the other end, we’ll be playing for 0-0 ties.

Seemed like we played much better - stats very even with shots on goal 5 apiece - unfortunately our frosh goalie only stopped 3 of them At Dartmouth on Friday will be a challenge - our new coach working on establishing his best lineup

I only watched a little bit of the game (with ESPN+ going up to $6.99/mo. I feel like I should use it as much as I can), but a few observations:
1. Seconds after I tuned in Siena scored the first goal. It was not the goalkeeper's fault 2. HC looked better later in the game than at the beginning. 3. The effort was good. 4. Our goalkeeper is very athletic.
