I have to believe based on how many are picking HC over UConn that: 1. a lot of Crossporters have imbibed in the purple Kool-Aid or 2. a lot of Crossporters really, really think UConn stinks despite their D-IA status or 3.both My head and gut tell me this will be a toss-up game and went with the Crusaders more on heart than head. How about #4. a lot of Crossporters really think that HC is a good team capable of defeating the Huskies. After a quick count, I tallied 20 Crossports members picking HC and only 7 picking UCONN. My gut says if there was money involved it would be more evenly split but I like the passion and optimism for our guys!

Yeah, that's my point. Like me, I think most are "betting" with their heart, not heads.
A guy I knew who was a very successful bettor said that he loved betting against people who bet with their hearts as he made a lot of money that way.
I do think that the Crusader football program in on the ascendancy. UConn is probably plateaued despite Edsall's comments. The question is that UConn's starting point, despite what many of us feel, was higher and the question is have we caught up to them yet. I think we are close to, if not already there. We'll know tomorrow afternoon.

Given the importance of the QB position I am unsure if we’ll do better on offense than we did in 2017 (w/Pujols) v UCONN…I also question our current speed in the backfield…we lost by 7.
I’m assuming UCONN is about as good as they were in 2017. They were 3-9 with very close wins over HC, Temple, and Tulsa.
So I picked UCONN.

I think the speed in the backfield is a good and fair observation. Straight ahead against this D-Line is going to be tough sledding in my opinion. Going to need to have an outside threat over the course of the game. Hopefully someone in the group emerges as that threat.

I want to pick HC and think we have a very good shot in this game, but I don't think we're quite to the point where I could pick them outright. I'm hedging my bets and hoping I'm wrong.

Picking the home teams
BC Nebraska Villanova Air Force Sacred Heart UConn - too much to expect the D to win this one

BC Nebraska Villanova Air Force Sacred Heart - maybe the best chance of a PL win this week. Holy Cross - can't let the PL go winless this week, so going heart over head.

Query. Other than bragging rights, is there any other incentive to pick UConn over HC? If not, I am surprised that anyone would not pick HC and I did not even attend there.

We're back (I hope)....first games in September in 2 years. I know we are a couple weeks out (UConn is at Fresno St this weekend) but it will give us some time during this end of Summah season to chat, pontificate etc. on these games. Same rules as always, just pick the outright winner of each game. Some VERY daunting games for some of our PL brethern in Week 1. All games are on Saturday 9/4. Week 1: Colgate @ BC Fordham @ Nebraska Villanova @ Lehigh Marist @ GTown Lafayette @ Air Force Bucknell @ Sacred Heart Holy Cross @ UConn BC Nebraska Villanova Georgetown Air Force Sacred Heart Holy Cross

UCONN is trash, but so is HC’s offense. Starting the year optimistic… go Cross.

"trash" vs "trash"...and you see that as optimism?

Defense stops the Huskies. That first carry by their rb was scary. HC settled down nicely.

I suspect like me, dozens of Crossporters picked all 6 winners. The closest call would have been the HC-UConn game. If you got that one right, you probably got bingo.
