Our rookie of the year Bronagh averaged 11.5 ppg to Weimar's 8.6. Don't hand BU the trophy (the PL Trophy, you can hand them the Turnpike Trophy) just yet.🙂 Let's see how our recruits work out.

Remember, we have something of a tradition on CROSSPORTS that our recruits are typically seen by some as "flawed" but recruits and/or transfers to our opponents are seen as unique talents. Things usually get sorted out on the court, so in time we'll see who was right.

At 6’4”, it would have been great to have seen her in Purple.

I think the point is the Boston U - with seven of their top eight players returning from a strong team - would’ve likely been favored to win the PL even before they added Weimar. Adding a skilled 6-4 starting center will surely make them an even bigger favorite. Their biggest competition is likely to be Lehigh, who has two of last year’s seniors coming back for a fifth year. Marist btw was 18-4 last season, with one of those losses to national power Louisville.

No recruit in the PL is flawless. Weimar gives BU a pretty good 1/2 punch in the middle, both she and Durant are defensive stalwart's, and she adds great depth, size & experience upfront, something HC currently sorely lacks (at least on paper). BU basically has their whole team coming back except Nelson (a big loss) so they will definitely will be contenders, and may likely be the pre-season favorite. I think our freshman class is pretty good and will have lots of opportunities to show it, especially Berger, but would have loved another big. If I had to guess, we will see a lot of play from the frosh & sophs, at least early in the season.

13, you seem to be our resident expert on our ladies basketball team. Would you hazard a guess as to whether the men's or women's team will win more games this season?

I'm a resident crank not an expert but I think expectations should be higher for the men as this is Coach Nelson's third season and he has completely remade the team to his specifications. Coach Magarity has not prompted wholesale changes and only the Freshmen will be her recruits. You could argue that the cupboard, while not well stocked after the Lauren Manis class left was less bare for the women than the men, but Coach Magarity kept the team together and got them to play to their potential. So I will pick the women to win more while hoping the men can put it all together this season and play to their potential, which is high.

LS, you put well what my predisposed thoughts on the subject were and the factors involved.
