Kudos to the squad and the coaching staff on a fine non-conference start. Team benefitting from the veteran leadership of a couple of All-Patriot League 5th year players and first year E.Jones picking up at least a point per match so far. There isn't much of a "transfer bus" within the men's soccer program, seems like the HC squad "ages" nicely in each four year cycle. 2013 & 2017 brought runs to the PL championship match, could 2021 bring the same (or higher) level of success? Go Cross Go!

HC - 4 shots, only 1 on goal - therefore the UML goalie had zero saves - soccer is the kind of game where you can be outplayed and still win as we did tonight - another one-sided stat was corner kicks which favored UML 9-2 - Hey, we've had plenty of games where we had the edge in play but lost - a W is the objective and we got it - let's keep the momentum going

Next up at Iona, which is 0-3 including an OT loss at Navy. Looks like the Gaels are down after their conference title in '19.
Bigger non-con tests are coming up at BC, at Northeastern, home for Harvard and at Brown.

Evan has gotten off to such a good start that we’re now forced to wonder whether he’ll stick around or use his success to move on to greener pastures. I suspect he didn’t get higher offers because he is not tall but he’s now proven he can be very effective as a D1 player, including against an ACC team. Hopefully he loves the school and decides being a star at HC and getting his degree is the right path for him.

Doesn't that send a terrible message to our athletes? I believe it does.

We were competitive last night but not sure we really held our own if you look at the stats - BC 24-7 shots (6-3 edge shots on goal) and 7-3 edge in corner kicks Huge league opener on Saturday at home vs AU - they went deep into the ncaa championships in the spring. Our team has a crack at making some noise this fall, but PL soccer is pretty good.

It happens every day in college sports today and has happened with multiple good players on the soccer team alone in the last few years. So, I think it’s a legitimate concern.

OK, but why post it? It seems that every good athlete we get has one or more of these posts as soon as he/she starts. Is it a legitimate concern? Perhaps, but he did choose HC and is here now. Why not reinforce that positive?

Why not reinforce that positive? Soccer throughout the last 20 years have seen larger programs scooping up lower level players...it is a concern for any program.

Do you really believe that any concern needs to b e posted here wondering when one or more of our athletes will leave? I can't see why. It may cause someone to consider leaving if enough people (like you) post about his/her departure. Can you see anything good coming out of it for HC?

Perhaps if it wakes people up in the Athletic Department to let student athletes know they are appreciated...and assure them they are free to sign an NIL sponsorship deal with Coney Island Hot Dogs. How long before better paid sponsorship opportunities start factoring in to transfer decisions? Not a word was mentioned on the board about Joe P. leaving before he made his announcement as I recall. He was widely celebrated and projected to be a feature player for HC basketball his sophomore year. Then he left anyway. So staying mum had little effect.

Tough to prove a negative. I seem to remember that was his pan for some time and the fact that there was no "when will he transfer" post played nom role. THat may not be the best example.

Evan Jones is not transferring from HC or staying at HC because of anything posted on Crossports.
