Tough for the pollsters or the computers to be too precise at the moment. It will all shake out soon enough and I expect the Crusaders and the Rams to be playing for the title in mid-November.

CBS Sports website has us at 25. Any other polls? There are two major polls for FCS football. The STATS poll (HC currently #24) is voted on by the media and is equivalent to the AP FBS poll. The FCS coaches poll is voted on by coaches and has HC at #27 (2nd in receiving votes) after Saturday (see link below.) This is the poll that Joe refers to above and where we finished at #25 at the END of the spring season. A good win vs Merrimack and we should crack the Coaches poll Top 25 next week as well. www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs/fcs-coaches-poll

The relevance of these polls is aided by what they mean for the post season FCS playoffs. If the Ivy League decided to let it's champion and possibly one other at large team per year participate in the playoffs like they do for BB, it would squeeze an available at large slot out of the mix, which could potentially cost HC an at large berth sometime in the future.
But I think it would help elevate FCS football in the media in the Northeast and make it more relevant and help our Ivy OOC games be of a little more interest for the fans of both schools playing that day.
Not a night and day difference but I would prefer it, not that the IL cares.

The pressure is on our lads to perform to the level that we, and others, are expecting. I, for one, am confident that if they continue to buy what the coaching staff is selling (and stay CoVID-free), they'll be just fine, and we could be on the brink of a special season..

Are all FCS coaches in the coaches poll? No, 30 vote. And in some cases it's the SID doing the voting for the coaches.

It's difficult to rank the Ivies when they haven't played in 20 months. But rest assured there will be at least two Top 25 caliber teams in that league. Whether it's Yale, Princeton, Harvard or one of the others, we'll see in a few weeks.

I know it's early, but based on what we saw in 2019 (admittedly with Dom Cozier), what we saw this Spring, and this past weekend's result, the more I look at our schedule, the more I think that we may be on the cusp of something special. Obviously, a VERY long way to go, and with CoVID potentially adding significantly to the inherent risks re: week-to-week availability of players, I truly believe that our 2021 Crusaders are in prime position to achieve at a level not seen in a very, very long time.

I think this difference this year is more the better depth of talent rather than individual talents (though Dobbs is exceptional) than in past years.
