Yeah, we almost blocked at least 2 punts and came pretty close on a 3rd punt. I was pretty sure our first TD would be a blocked punt run back for 6. From memory, our scores against BC came on blocked kicks.

They did, but cashing it in as a TD not something one can count on as a regular thing. The coaches seem to have our players set in a way that does give them a chance for a block at least once in every game.

On the first near miss, the Crusader came back to the sidelines holding his fingers 1 inch apart to show how close he was.

Updated Vaccination Requirements for Outdoor Events
Effective Saturday, Sept. 11, Holy Cross Athletics has updated its policies for attendees of outdoor athletics events and will require all guests to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, a negative PCR test administered within 72 hours of the event or a negative antigen test administered within 24 hours of the event prior to entering any on-campus venue. The indoor vaccination policy previously announced remains in effect. Fans attending Saturday’s football home opener against Merrimack College must present a valid form of photo ID and proof of vaccination or documentation of an appropriately dated negative COVID-19 test at one of five COVID-19 Prescreen Areas. Once screened, fans will receive non-transferable wristbands that will allow them into Fitton Field. Prescreening areas can be found at Gates A and D and inside Freshman Field, West Lot and the Premier Lot.
Click the link below for full policy details.

Did anyone see this stat from the QB at Merrimack? Granted it was against D2 St A's.
33-39 for 401 yards; I'll say this - if you throw against air - 33 for 39 is very accurate. That is very impressive regardless of who's playing defense. Very curious to see how this plays out against the secondary.

Our pass rush will be a major factor. our DC’s packages that Midwest guy praised will be big.

I think you may have some bad numbers. Last year Merrimack went 0-3 losing to Bryant, Sacred Heart, and LIU by a composite score of 36-71. Merrimack's passers were 48-94 (.511) for 404 yards (a woeful average of 4.3 yards per attempt) with 4 TD's and 5 interceptions

I think some folks are passing on numbers from the 2019 season...the Warriors second season on the way to becoming FCS (D1).

My brain doesn't recognize last season, it is all so strange!.. I do see HC with a solid win, too many weapons for Merrimack to handle, but don't sleep on them..

Game Notes are up. No more OR next to the QBs names. Other than that I don't see any changes.

HC at Yale starting at $12 Harvard at Yale starting at $40 Did HC used to mark BC tickets up 333%? No. That wasn't a 20th century sort of thing to do. The first team I ever heard of charging more based on opponent was the (Devil)Rays when no one went to most of their games but Red Sox and Yankee fans came in large numbers when their team was in Tampa. It has spread. A few years ago, the Red Sox jumped on the bandwagon and now charge more when the Yankees are in town than when the Mariners are in town. I have never heard of such a steep markup as this one

Don’t put any merit in the two deep via injuries week to week. There were many examples in the spring when guys that weren’t even suiting up were still listed on the depth chart. Only if it’s a season ending injury might they list a change. I expect very few changes unless it’s a glaringly obvious one.

Keys to the Merrimack Game: 1) Avoid the slow start: Despite Chesney’s success in his first 3 seasons, one thing that has hampered us at times is a sluggish 1H (especially 1st quarter). If we can avoid that this week and put 2 scores on the board in the 1st quarter (at least 10-14 points), we should be on our way to getting some of the 2’s and especially underclassman some PT starting in the 3rd quarter and midway through the 4th at the latest. I for one would like to see Sluka not step on the field in the 4th quarter. 2) As we saw last week, teams are not going to score enough on our Defense if we make them EARN IT. Again, this consists of limiting short fields (few Offensive turnovers and/or special teams miscues) and not giving up big passes down field. Merrimack is not going to run on our defense. They’re hoping to get the ball in space, break some tackles, throw deep and get a few catches and/or PI calls. That’s there best hope.
