Funny, this past weekend I saw the soon to be gone AD on the sidelines in CT sans mask...talking to people and enjoying the game. Now he deems to come down with rules that last week didn't exist? I guess COVID only is inside the property limits of Holy Cross. The inconsistencies are maddening. Plus putting into place the BC communist tailgating rules before he high tails it out of here. Holy Cross will never get it right, EVER!!!!

I may be the only one here who gets confused whenever there is the use of "BC." Is it,
1. Bob Chesney 2. Bill Carmody 3. Boston College
"the BC communist tailgating rules before he high tails it out of here" implies Marcus Blossom ("MB"). Or, is this supposed to be a shot that Blossom established tailgating like there was at Boston College? And, "communist?" Really?
Since I didn't tailgate at BC but saw tons of people doing so (prior to covid), not sure what the reference is to. But if it is following BC tailgating policy, that doesn't inherently make it wrong.
For those who are upset about the tailgating or the covid protocols or the ticketing or just generally the way Holy Cross does athletic stuff, vote with your pocketbooks and just don't go. That'll show them. Posting here won't change squat.
I know this from experience, unfortunately.

I'm expecting somewhat of a s***show at Fitton this Saturday with electronic ticketing, vaccination checks, beer ticketing/lines, no halftime tailgating on the baseball field etc etc. I think it will be a decent crowd given the win ovah UConn, home openah, good weather....planning on going, will report.

A couple of random thoughts - I E-mailed the athletic department and asked if a photo of a vaccine card on my phone was acceptable. I got a fairly quick response: Personally I find the card an awkward size. A little too big to fit neatly in my wallet. - Without getting into the merits of the new policy itself, I like the plan to implement it. Having various stations, not all at the gates, to get wristbands works for me. A decent percentage of fans do some level of tailgating. They'll have the option of wandering over anytime when the line looks small for the wristband and then later admittance to the game itself won't be bogged down with people on their phones with one app showing the ticket, one app showing proof of vaccination also while pulling out the wallet with the ID. We'll see how smooth it is in practice I was hoping a photo was Ok. My card is in a drawer and hasn't moved since I got the second shot and I haven't been asked to show it or a photo since. I'm glad I didn't fold it into my wallet it might not be readable by now.

If we win, even a big win, over Merrimack, will we be “punished” in the rankings for playing a D-2 team?
I see here that they are transitioning to FCS (D-IAA) but apparently not there yet.

Man there is a lot of curmudgeon “get off my lawn” chat going on here based on such a nothing burger. 77% of Massachusetts ages 12+ are fully vaccinated (88% at least one dose) As someone who’s fairly steeped in Demographics (especially as it relates to vaccination rates), the cohort of people that typically attend Holy Cross football games are highly likely to be closer to 85-90% fully vaccinated. Flash your card or phone at the entrance, not a big deal. As for the kids under 12, the vast majority of school districts in the country have these kiddos fully masked at school (the kids get it.) HC is NOT going to have mask police walking up and down the aisles with maybe ~8-9k attendees in a ~24k seat stadium. They just want the younger kids to be masked walking into the stadium or at the concession stand (somewhat congregate settings). THEY KNOW the kids are going to pull there masks down or off once in the stands. Let’s refocus on the day and see the good…a perfect football weather Saturday (73 degrees and Sunny), later kick-off time so extra fun at the tailgate. Getting a chance to watch potentially the best HC team since….? Oh, and we didn’t get any of this last fall. I for one remember how that felt. FANS ARE BACK. PEOPLE ARE HAPPY. Don’t be the Karen at Costco at Fitton. HAVE FUN, SMILE, LET’S WIN!!
GO PURP!

I think Merrimack is officially considered an FCS team now not D2....since we became 1-AA/FCS in 1982, I don't believe we've ever scheduled anyone below FCS nor should we imo.

Are vax checkers trained to spot fake vax cards? Maybe use the old bouncers from Joe De’s and McGuiers ?

I'm guessing average Joe from Worcester will have no clue that there is a new video board or newer concessions (and hopefully equally upgraded delivery systems) I hope that the average Joe knows about the new policy (it did make WTAG news this morning. ) I think it will create bad feelings if people are turned away because of being unable to prove vaccination status. The last time I showed anyone my vaccination card was at an annual physical just so they could have a record. I predict there will be people who are vaccinated and show up Saturday with no proof

If the tickets are stored on your smartphone, then HC, through your smartphone, has a ready means of contacting you about the vaccination/test protocols.

If it is any comfort, vaccinated and immune are two different things. Given the waning effect of the vaccines (hence the current booster discussions) there’s no telling who (especially among the vaccinated older set) is still immune. Notwithstanding the reassuring effect of a vaccine card in some quarters.
Since the new covid outdoor spectator protocols are essentially gestures in any case I suppose it doesn’t matter.

I went to a site run by the state and they had no clue who my doctor was so they couldn't fax. I was thinking more about people who show up that day and buy a ticket then. As of the last home game that was still not an uncommon practice. I assumed that was still an option

How many average Joe's will even know there is a football game at 2 PM on Saturday at Fitton, without going to a Holy Cross website?
The last circulation numbers for the T&G are from a decade ago, when it was affiliated with the NY Times. About 75,000 daily print and digital subscribers, with print subscribers in steady decline, offset by digital subscribers. In 2014, leaked documents said that daily circulation was 57,000.

Just an FYI: Tickets for parking and games can be emailed in a PDF file to your email address. They can then be printed out on paper (8 1/2 " X 11"). The one page Parking Ticket contains all pertinent information (date, location, etc.) along with a square bar code in the middle of the page that can be scanned upon arrival. The same with the game ticket (date, seat location, etc.).
