Thanks fir that explanation. The restroom test was one used by my late mother-in-law. She would go to the ladies' room after we placed an order and if it did not meet her standard, she would simply come back and say, "We need to eat somewhere else." She linked the cleanliness of the restroom with thatoif the kitchen. Not always a bad rule.

Maybe poor choice of words, or maybe my sarcasm just wasn't noted. At the German airport, the stalls were floor to ceiling, locks that worked, immaculately clean like you'd hope most restaurant kitchens would be. I have read a number of pieces on "things foreign visitors cannot believe about the USA". The fact that our restrooms have stalls where the doors stop a foot above the floor is often on the list.

I have heard that as well. They sometimes wonder why separate restrooms are needed by gender since with appropriate privacy for a staff they would seem to be unnecessary.

There was a story going around a few decades ago, perhaps apocryphal, about the men's room under the Fenway bleachers. The story goes that an extremely intoxicated young man, on a dare, took a running start and body surfed the length of the trough.

Why on earth would anyone EVER go to Fenway? I walked by it once and that was more than enough?
Were you there for the hot dogs as I am sure it wasn’t for baseball!
My trip through MLB started with the Brooklyn Dodgers, transitioned to New York Yankees and then to New York Mets to MLB strike to no team and certainly never the Red Sox.
Since I helped derail this thread to quality restrooms, I am now attempting to get off that subject.😉
Discuss.😊

^^^^ At Fenway early 70's drunk fan runs on the field & slides head first into 2nd base. The cops drag him off. When we exited the game he was handcuffed to a fence for all to see.Great public punisment in my book.

20th century stocks. Regarding Fenway, going there now is too much of a project, but back in the day, it was great fun (so long as you don't weigh 250 lbs). What is the title of this thread, anyways.

First time for opening day, last time at the Park. Hope it has been improved since based on the ticket prices. 😳🤣

Back to the topic, which I had assumed was stadium bathrooms, I went to a few Colts games in Baltimore at Memorial Stadium in the late 70s. Troughs would have been a godsend. Every porcelain appliance was used; urinals, toilets and sinks, at least for the taller guys. And I'm not speaking of the washing up phase.
Orioles games were somewhat more civilized.

Fenway's great for the 20K or thereabouts they are drawing this year.
In a normal season, fugettaboutit.

As long as we're so far off topic: Worst bathrooms ever - South of the Border, along I-95 in Dillon, SC at 3:00am in August. I'll die of sepsis before I ever do that again - and it was only about a dozen years ago!

I've driven by S.O.O.B. in Feb, Mar & Apr; place seems quite dormant; then again, the pandemic was going on 2 of the 4 trips.

Gentlemen,
This thread got way to personal way too fast and way too frequently.
I did not see 43's post at the time it was posted but did see it in quoted responses after 43 deleted his account.
The subsequent responses were personal attacks. Call out the expressed points of view of others - especially if you see them as bigoted opinions - but going back 20 years calling character and motives into question from 20 years ago is likewise unwanted here.
Any of you who responded in such a manner, no matter how well intentioned, are warned. Don't go to personal attacks and keep your indignation civil.
I have deleted any posts that reference the offending post from 43 and the subsequent attacks.
And while I'm sure you will be disappointed that the worst bathroom talk will be stopped ...
This thread is locked.
Carry on.
