Merrimack was a big problem for Holy Cross so Yale should be no different Why, just because of different team, different coaches, different players, and a different opponent and no connection between Yale and Merrimack. The only consistent thing here seems to be your ongoing lack of faith in anything connected to Holy Cross. No surprise there.

Yale is a much better program in the last ten years and not a D-2 program that just moved up to FCS. Bigger and better athletes play at Yale especially in football.

Then why compare them to Merrimack, as you did? Trying to make HC look worse? There are many differences between Merrimack and Yale, some of which you mention.

There are differences between Merrimack and Yale, One isn't even eligible for the conference title in the NEC and the other one is expected to finish in second place in the Ivy League. So in theory, Yale is EXPECTED to be better than Merrimack.

Brendan holds the record for most receptions in one season with 106, Ari Confessor is well behind with 90 for second highest. Brendan is second to Mike Fess for career receptions 197 vs 209 for Fess Flaherty would easily have broken the career reception record if PP didn't get injured his senior year. The two backup qb's couldn't get him the ball. Very frustrating to watch. Without a doubt one of the best football players to ever put on a purple Jersey.

Besides the QB, I’d expect Yale to be better than Merrimack at just about every position (and pretty darn good at QB BTW).

“ So in theory, Yale is EXPECTED to be better than Merrimack.”
Brian, Holy Cross was EXPECTED to be better than Merrimack.
It’s why they play the games and you’ve covered enough games in enough sports to know that better than most.

Yale has had time to prepare, experienced a full camp and this week Yale has two games on film to prepare for HC and those are big factors on why I think Yale will win. Don’t want them to win but I don't see how we can move ball if Yale stops the run. Defense has made a lot of stops but the offense 3 and outs will keep D on field to long. Will be a close game hope I am wrong on the outcome.

bfoley, the thing is that you regularly go out of your way to accentuate the NEGATIVE regarding HC.. It's like a Democrat going on FOX to say all the bad things about Biden that he/she can think of. Not going to make you a lot of friends among your fellow posters here..

I think having already played 2 games is much more of an advantage than being "fresh" i.e. first game. Throw on the fact that the Eli didn't play last year on top of this and that gives us at least that advantage in the game tomorrow.
It will be very interesting to see how well we respond/play....really the 1st time a Chesney team has hit a "speed-bump" during his tenure here.

Game preview/depth chart still not on the website. The fact that this was just posted on the HC site at 2:45 on a Friday of a game week is pretty embarrassing. Don't we have countless people working in the athletic office to do stuff like this? What have they been doing all week???

One observation--understanding that weight is not as important as strength, speed, quickness, technique--Yale average about 10 pounds more per man than HC on both the OL and DL

I don't know but creating CONTENT for two golf teams, field hockey, men's soccer, and women's soccer in addition to a couple of tennis matches. Oh yea, I saw some women's basketball tweets/instagram posts too. Just this Saturday coming up, they have to prepare for a field hockey match on Saturday at Bucknell, Men's Soccer home against American, Women's Soccer at American, and a home volleyball match against Bucknell in addition to that football game vs Yale. All this with only three full-timers and an Associate AD position that is currently open that oversaw the department.

I will rip UNH just as much for basketball and hockey.

Bowl appearances? Same amount as Holy Cross in the last 75 years. How many Walter Payton Award winners for UNH? Two and Holy Cross has a grand total of 0. UNH has had six NFL draft picks since the last time Holy Cross has had one. UNH also had a pro bowler during that time from a Saint Peter Marian grad who broke the 1-AA rushing record in college.

Why not take all of your UNH trivia and put it somewhere else. I imagine that there is someone somewhere who may care but on the Holy Cross board...unlikely.

Know how many HC grads were head coaches in the NBA? How about the number of national championships won in hoops and baseball? Picking out selected points about UNH and then posting them on a different college's blog is a bit pathetic, isn't it?

If HC puts that 175lb freshman FS on the field you can be certain that Yale will identify where he lines up and will power run right at him. Physics says it won’t be pretty.
