Nice to see Blossom going back to the well of coaches who have had some success leading programs at lower levels. Stiles won 63% of her games as head coach at D2 University of Charleston in. West Virginia.
She took over for a guy who left to become the head coach at D1 Wright State after leading U of C to the D2 World Series and a #8 national ranking. Here are the winning percentages (overall and conference) for them for the last 8 seasons. Stiles’ first season was 2017.
2021 .682 and .719 2020 .875 and N/A 2019 .611 and .656 2018 .519 and .375 2017 .638 and .688
2016 .806 and .906 2015 731 and .714 2014 .635 and .607

A coach with a winning record. MB's hires in M&W BB and Men's Hockey and Lacrosse all had either no record or a losing record. I hope all four coaches establish winning programs and stay for a long time if they do, but it's nice to have a proven winner to take over a losing program. It worked out well with our last D-2 winner.

Marcus Blossom was named as the AD at Creighton 2.5 weeks ago -- why are we still putting out press releases saying he is the Athletic Director at Holy Cross, giving him these quotes, and still even potentially allowing him to make decisions like this?
We have a former D2 Athletic Director on staff who should be more than capable of serving as the Interim AD, and it's not like Blossom was in possession of cancer research or the nuclear launch codes that would take weeks to hand off to someone.
JUST LEAVE
---------
Welcome, Coach Stiles!

This press release in all likelihood is providing clues as to what person/co-arrangement will be the interim AD.

This press release in all likelihood is providing clues as to what person/co-arrangement will be the interim AD. The press release lists the Assoc AD responsible for Softball (sport where the coach was hired) and Senior Woman Administrator (softball is a women's sport). But I don't really care who the Interim AD is -- just get rid of the guy whose mind is on Creighton, moving his family to Nebraska, etc.

I will be very interested to see how Coach Stiles does. Coach Lapicki and her predecessor struck me as decent or better coaches, their primary issue was the lack of scholarship support and to a lesser degree, a below-par facility. The latter is changing (I hope) but the former... Hard to compete with BU, Lehigh, Colgate and Bucknell when they have 10 or more scholarships and you're working with just over 2. Takes a different recruiting strategy. One I hope she brings with her.

Do you know for a fact that Colgate and Bucknell distribute 10 schollies each among their roster ? Maybe Phreek has the exact numbers ? We know AWP, BU and Lehigh have the big advantages in place but was not aware of the others

Clearly you want him gone, and next Friday you'll get your wish.

The remark I heard from a current mid-major head coach who knows the PL well was "Why would you want that job? BU, Lehigh, Colgate and Bucknell average over 10 scholarships. Add Army and their situation, and there goes any chance HC may have of making the PL tournament." He could be wrong and they may not all have 10, but I've heard from a reliable source that BU has 12 and Lehigh has 10. He specifically mentioned Bucknell and Colgate rounding out that foursome, so probably not that far off, maybe 6 or 8? Compared to 2.2 at HC, 6 would be a windfall.

Clearly you want him gone, and next Friday you'll get your wish. Since you have all the answers, why does it take four weeks transition away from an Athletic Director at HC? At $250,000 per year (estimate), that’s $4,800+ per week. We just paid him $20K to spend September preparing for his next job. Give the guy two weeks to clean out the office he hardly used if he wants to, and donate the extra $10K you just wasted on him to the Church for all I care.
