Another great week for the Crusader 11 on the gridiron with arguably its biggest win in the 21st C. Two guys here had perfect weeks: sader1970 and longsuffering. Both will receive signed LP copies of Bruce Sprinsteen's "Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ" during a timeout during the Harvard game Saturday. Congrats! First week with a lot of damage elswhere as many took on 2 or 3 L's. Finally have a little separation as sader1970 leads the pack at a sterling 24-1.
Interesting week ahead. The Fordham-Lafayette game will have a lot of PL implications, will Lehigh evah score another TD and John Harvard at Fitton being the premier tilt on the docket.
Week 5: (all Sat.)
Yale @ Lehigh Colgate @ GTown Cornell @ Bucknell Fordham @ Lafayette Harvard @ Holy Cross

Yale (Does Lehigh even realize the season started) Colgate Cornell Fordham (Looked good v SBU) Harvard (Back and forth on this one but, unlike Yale, they’ve got a couple of games under their belt and that might offset our home field).

Dirty Harry - yes. I've also been called much worse not suitable for this Forum. I'm hopefully feeling lucky that I will be wrong in my pick.

Isn't it hard to have a trap game when most pickers still have HC as an underdog.

Yale GTown Cornell Fordham Harvard (could this be a...dreaded...trap game after our big Monmouth win?) Chesney's comments on TV after the Monmouth game lead me to believe that every member of the team now (unfortunately) knows what can happen in these situations. Furthermore, I don't see any way whatsoever that anyone will let last week's terrific victory distract from a very worthy opponent, and one that everyone loves to beat, coming to town. If Holy Cross should lose on Saturday, I don't think it will be a result of inattention to the task at hand.

I am sure I am in the minority but depending on your definition of what a “trap game” is, I really don’t think we looked past Merrimack.
They are a very good team that played well. We are an even better team that played poorly. The better team that day won. No trap - just outplayed.
And no way Harvard will be a trap game.

For those who played for Duff, there was no better in season speech than Harvard. Duff hated Harvard, and as a result, I still hate Harvard more than any other opponent to this day. Not a dry eye in the house every time we played them. He loved running it up if we could. Chills just thinking about it.

Harvard definitely felt like our biggest rival during those times.

Isn't it hard to have a trap game when most pickers still have HC as an underdog. Sagarin has Harvard 138 and Holy Cross 158. Hard to be a trap game when we're a home DOG and a win LIKELY punches an at-large ticket. Assuming we lose no more than 1 in PL play.

Last time PL got an at large bid was 2015 - Fordham beat Army that year.
That said I reached out to Brian McLaughlin from HERO to ask his opinion on HC getting an at large at 9-2 if HC were to beat Harvard and lose to Fordham.
In a nutshell he said 9-2 in the PL is like 7-4 at other conferences. It's possible if Yale, Harvard, Monmouth, Merrimack finish with good seasons and it improves HC's Strength of Schedule. He saw a 9-2 McNeese State team get left out because of a weak SOS.
Hopefully it's not an issue for HC, but just some context to the discussion down the road if it applies.

9-2 SHOULD be enough, assuming Monmouth, Yale, Merrimack all finish strong, as darry13 stated.
A good chunk of 7-4 teams from "power conferences" get in every year now that the field has expanded to 24. I think even 6-5 (or 7-5 in 12 game year) from the Valley has gotten an at large at least once.
One thing in our favor is that the committee tends to reward FBS wins, so even though UCONN is REALLY REALLY bad it will still be a positive.
Lehigh got left out in 2011 or 2012 at 10-1. Field had just expanded to 20 back then and was a couple years away from expanding to 24.
