Curious what people here think (hope) will be the crowd on Saturday.

The weather channel has for Saturday 66-51 degree range for the day, partly cloudy, 18% chance of rain, in Worcester.
Posting as weather definitely impacts turnout at Fitton. Official attendance at Merrimack game was 8,211,
Would appear that the forecast is for weather more like football weather than we've had all season to date.

Announced crowd- 14K. Acutal crowd, right around 10.
Better but not great. Our best home opponent remaining by far.
Hope my estimate is not cut down by a significant portion of the potential audience not wanting to wait in line to show proof of vaccination, etc.

I'm the bottom vote. 10K is actually a pretty big Homecoming crowd these days. Throw in a vaccine mandate and some people who want to avoid large gatherings and I don't think there's a prayer of 10K.
Homecoming is also the biggest gathering of people who don't go into the game at all. I'm not sure if those masses in the parking lot had tickets and counted as paid attendance or not. If not, there is a chance there will be a bump if security forces people into the game.

Apropos of nothing relateable today, but just saw that there were 20,681 at the Harvard-HC game at Fitton in 1982....tough 24-17 loss which probably knocked us out of the playoffs that year. That game was also the ABC regional GotW.

We will not have 20,000 people there unless Tom Brady is playing quarterback.

This time a year ago, you might have had a standing-room only crowd if a.) there had been a game at all, b.) if it had been Homecoming, and c.) if Dr. Fauci were in attendance to do the coin toss.
What a difference a year makes - in many ways.

What if HC publicizes that all attendees will receive a free all-expenses paid one-year membership to Crossports?

I voted 12-15K.....if Merrimack can draw 8K (admittedly, announced)....I think a Homecoming game against Harvard between 2 good teams on a nice day should top 12K.
Granted, covid-19 is an issue....though it hasn't seemed to suppress (too much anyway) crowds at Gillette, Fenway and BC this month. We'll see.

What a difference a year makes - in many ways. Fauci would probably screw up the coin flip. Did you see his throw to home plate at the game-can’t remember which one. Threw worse than President Obama’s-throws like a girl pitch to home plate also! LOL

I’d expect that kind of jab for Fauci on a BC board.
The throw was at Washington opening day and I have a bobble head commemorating the event. The good doctor himself laughs about it.
(You do realize Fauci is the most visible HC alum out there today and surpasses Cousy, Clarence, or any others). He brings credit to Holy Cross just not in his throwing arm. Let’s see how you throw when you are 80!😂

It was not the best throw admittedly, but unlike say, Bush, he studied in school, less time to work on the four-seamer. Also, I am planning to attend with my wife and two under two; so if I can make it, what is your excuse? #GoCross #BeatHarvard #AlreadyBeatYale

Will we have to wait in line for an hour and a half to buy tickets? Will they have more than one ticket booth open? Can they handle a decent crowd? If they screw this up....

Just that we’re all on the same page, are we referring to the official “announced” attendance number? Does that represent all tickets sold? What was the delta at the Merrimack between the “announced attendance” ( ~8,200) and actual number of people in the stadium? Sounds like it was usually between 1-2k last few seasons Pre Covid…is there ever any way to find out how many people actually step foot into Fitton?

With electronic ticketing now, there must be....whether that # of people entering Fitton is evah made public is a different story. For this poll's purposes, I'm going by the "announced attendance"....as flawed as that may well be.

I'm going to be the optimist and say that some folks have heard that we have a very good team and that they'll want to see it in action against a big rival: 13,473 is the number that will be published n the box score

I voted the Homecoming crowd usually...
but it could be more with a strong turn out of locals due the winning & associated publicity... but disappointed with lack of pub in CC Times
I have fielded 35 requests for tix... most from non alums. most of the alums in the area associated with my group have their own season tix

When I was at HC, homecoming generally had the biggest crowds because you had many alumni parents and grandparents so it amplified the attendance and was probably a bit more the Parent's Weekend (are they calling it Family Weekend now?) The year after I graduated, I came back for a night game against UMass that had a huge crowd by recent standards. UMass brought a lot of fans and we had the temp lights up. We should have won that game.
Going to go with an announced attendance of 12,890 and an actual attendance of around 10,110.

Random question: Do students count? Box scores/announced attendance usually equals paid attendance. I don't think students pay. Also not sure if a student ID gets scanned through electronic ticketing. Probably not enough students will attend to make a significant impact if not counted
----------------------------- Some where on another thread (one which I'm too lazy to look for) a poster suggested that out of town alums buy season tickets and for games they don't attend ask the athletic department to give them out to youth groups. I know there are out of town alums who buy season tickets and don't make every game. I'm guessing a small percentage of those extra tickets get used by anyone. That is part of the disparity between announced attendance and the eye test. Traditionally, there were some people who never made it into the game from the parking lot, and many of them have tickets. In theory that number should be less this year

It's been a long time since I bought a ticket at the game, but I don't think they ever had more than 2 windows. Throw in the response to complaints saying the school is having staffing issues and I'm predicting there will not be more than one ticket booth open. The question will be what percentage of the attendance is day of game sales. I don't know what your definition of a "decent crowd" is, but I don't think they'll be even close to being able to handle anything in the 15K range. On the other hand, I voted <10K in the poll.
