Sakellaropoulos is 5-0-0 this year. Kupsky (who played tonight and was drafted in the 7th round by the Sharks in 2015) is 1-2-1.

Don't worry about the polls - just worry about the wins.

...especially the coming 2 against AIC! With this year's schedule, even after a big win, there seems to be another big test waiting right ahead. I love it!

That's somewhat disappointing. Very I believe that if our hoops team played the No. 20 team in the Hart we would draw many more how was the student turnout ? the non- student turnout ?

There are 60 D1 hockey teams, so being ranked #20 is the equivalent to the #117 in college hoops. From what I read, Union had a lot of fans at the Hart.

AIC is traditionally one of the worst teams in college hockey. They are 1-3-1 this season and ranked #54 in the PWR. They played Union to a 5-4 loss in their season-opener, though.

unusual tuesday night game certainly effected the crowd. yes, the hart would be packed if the no.20 bball team played HC, but the point of many discussions here is that that is never going to happen because of the reality of college bball and the leverage major schools have over mid-majors
it can happen and does happen that nationally ranked hockey teams can visit a hockey mid-major. the question is why has HC failed to acknowledge that reality (without question the only sport we play that you can say that about) and to basically have ignored the hockey facility while spending $95 million on improvements. i think they misjudged the relative potential of hockey. a pity it's too late to re-evaluate the design of the Luth.

I can see improving the rink, but based on the 900 attendees, it does not to be enlarged.

Would the Hart be packed if Iona, Yale, Temple, Long Beach State or Boise State played HC? Because, again, that's the CBB equivalent of Union.
Now, if North Dakota, BC, or BU played at the Hart, I'm confident it would be SRO.

Seems like this could be a four year series with Union (two home, two away):

Union had a bunch of people there, which added to a good hockey atmosphere. It's good to play against schools that "travel well." AIC will give HC all it can handle. They lost 5-4 to Union, tied UConn at the XL Center, and split at Mercyhurst. New coach this year. Plus, HC will be playing its second and third games in 4 days. Any AHA points this year will be hard earned.

I thought the student-athlete turnout was fantastic at the game...it is the non student athletes that were not there.

But I do think that this speaks to the fact that College Hockey just isn't all that popular, and thus why we need to be very careful about spending significant money to make the jump to Hockey East. I worry that this is far closer to UMASS football jumping to 1-A football and not being competitive in games in front of nobody at Gillette Stadium than it is to a move like the basketball team making the jump to the Big East and truly exciting a Central Mass fan base.

The number of moving parts and calculations within a multiple year time frame associated with this decision makes discussing it intelligently on a sports board very difficult. It's just not as simple as believing that " an upgrade to a better conference in any H.C. sport, is always in the institution's best interest. "

I used Ken Pomeroy's rankings -- those are the 115 - 119 ranked teams in the preseason. The point is that Union does not equal West Virginia (KP's 20th ranked team).

As opposed to comparing Union # 20 to the equivalent of #117 in basketball, maybe we should compare Union 2014 national champs to how the 2014 champs Connecticut would draw playing basketball at the Hart.
