Two quick questions that I am hoping someone here knows the answer to:
1. Is a picture of your vaccination card on your phone good enough proof? 2. What time will the Covid screening areas open tomorrow?

From HC
Attendees 12 years of age and older will be required to present proof of full vaccination confirming the visitor is at least two weeks past the final dose of any WHO-approved vaccine by presenting a CDC COVID-19 vaccination card (digital or physical) or by presenting a verified digital vaccine card from The Airside App or VaxYes. (Please note, visitors should enroll at least 24 hours prior to arrival on campus to ensure admission.)

We think “digital” definitely means a pic on my phone? It should but you never know. Anyone know what time they start giving out wristbands for clearing the proof of vaccination hurdle?

Shouldn’t a proof of a negative test be the baseline for entry into any events like this rather than proof of vaccination? We’ve seen those who are vaccinated contracting and spreading corona, so seems like a negative test is much smarter.

/\ Well, in the context of an uncrowded outdoor arena we may not be talking strictly science so it really doesn’t matter one way or another. Easier to gesture via vaccine cards than gesture via covid test results.
As a matter of fact, there may be many attendees at the game who are in need of a booster. The fact their card says they got two shots has nothing to do with their current immunity. Not to mention covid status.
So, good point.

Picture of the card is fine. Had no wait time for that at the Merrimack game.

Turns out that even some of our alumni haven’t gotten the jab. Isn’t that amazing?

Yes a picture on your phone is good. I asked at the Merrimack game about that.. The tables were set up and running when the parking area was opened, freshmen field was very easy to get checked in. We did it when we arrived around noon..

Doesn’t really matter if one gets the vaccine or not because we’ve seen it still spreads from those who are vaccinated. Just saying that if HC was truly seeking to ensure a safe event, negative tests are the way to do it. A good point by pride though — when will all those who received their two shots be considered unvaccinated because they haven’t gotten the booster?

CVS charges $139 for a PCR test, the only test that is uniformly accepted. The cost may be much less if you are insured. Five home football games x $139 = $695. Vaccination is free.
CVS test results are promised 1-2 days after swab is taken. Basically, you should be tested three days before a game to be able to show negative test results on game-day.. However, a negative test administered on a Wednesday is not a guarantee that you are not infected come Saturday.
Vaccinated people who have a breakthrough Covid infection are much less contagious than an unvaccinated person infected with Covid. ____________
A person who has received two shots is vaccinated. After six months of the second shot of the Pfizer vaccine, the efficacy drops to about 65 percent. Moderna's efficacy remains at 90+ percent after six months post-vaccination. The J&J one shot vaccine is about 72 percent effective. A second shot of J&J will raise the efficacy to 90+ percent.

Nope. Just killing time between innings. I guess you still aren’t vaccinated.

Those numbers vary greatly from person to person especially in regards to age. Apparently a third shot is already needed by many (older) folks. But their cards will indicate two shots so that box is checked for admission. Again, we are talking a half-empty outdoor arena so it’s really just a gesture in any case.

The one test I got was a free drive through administered by a hospital. It was really just a tickle in the nose. In the early days of the pandemic, media reports made it seem that they were trying to go deep enough to extract brain tissue.

Took pics of all our cards. Hopefully we’ll be good. Also putting the physical cards in the glove compartment just in case. Will definitely go early.

The 15 or so tests I have had in the last six months have just been a tickle in the nose.

I think it’s pretty cool (if not scientific) we’re doing the vaccine proof thing for outdoor attendance. Harvard did not have that sort of restriction for their (similarly outdoor) stadium or 20,000 fans in attendance last week v Brown in Cambridge. So, we’ve handily won the (empty) gesture contest v Harvard.

So, we’ve handily won the (empty) gesture contest v Harvard. I suspect you would not be happy with Harvard's indoor masking policy, whether fully vaccinated or not. AFAIK, this is the policy for the entire fall semester. (Harvard had two undergraduate positives this past week, while 35 graduate students and 11 staff tested positive. Harvard requires all students, faculty, and staff to be vaccinated.) Holy Cross will likely drop indoor masking for vaccinated students if the number of positives remains as low as it has been for the last seven days; i.e., one student positive (and two staff positives<<see ice hockey.). As Vince (excuse the familiar) wrote to students, the college had planned to drop indoor masking for students in mid-September, but too many students partied at the start of the semester, resulting in 80 students becoming infected by September 12. The proposition by a poster, who has declared he is not getting vaccinated, was that everyone who was attending the Harvard game would be required to take a PCR test on Wednesday, obtain the results by Friday, and show up at the gate on Saturday with proof of a negative PCR test. (Presumably, there is no masking or social distancing required if one has a negative test result.) And that this screening would be more effective at preventing further contagion than a vaccination requirement.

Yeah, never said PCR test, so please don’t twist and make up words.
Rapid test day of game (or maybe HC should even be distributing them at the stadium to all people) might suffice.
Note: I don’t believe this is necessary for the reasons pride laid out (outdoor arena that’s half filled, but if HC is truly concerned with ensuring a safe and corona free environment, it’s clear that testing is the way to do that.

Look, it may not be science but clearly we’ve bested Harvard on this one occasion regarding covid (empty) gestures and outdoor football games. Focus on the victory - other issues in due time…I’m thinking the magical face mask chinstrap on the hardwood is another potential winner for some squad.

No dispute that some of these Covid restrictions are foolish, but that level of foolishness pales when compared to the decision of some not to be vaccinated.
