USA Today newspaper rated the top 75 NBA players of all time
Coming in at #42 - everyone's favorite point guard: Bob Cousy
There are a lot of bad things on this list, but that is true of most of these rankings

A coworker reads the physical paper and gave me the 3 days of sports section because he thought I would find it interesting. I know this sounds so 20th century, but I don't have a link, just newspapers

I'm a diehard physical newspaper reader, but I'm down to getting physical papers delivered on weekends. One of life's simple pleasures is going out on a Sunday morning and retrieving the papers from your driveway.

Agreed. I read at least one paper per day. The Bodega in my neighborhood keeps a copy of the NYP aside for me, as they only get a few copies per day in my neck of the woods

I went on the website to find a link, but it is locked to subscribers only
I don't feel like typing 75 names, but I'll give you the top 5 and answer any specific questions before I toss my hard copies
Disclaimer: I have no clue who these people are that don't rate the greatest basketball player ever in the top5
1. Jordan 2. James 3. Abdul-Jabbar 4. Magic Johnson (in case you thought there could be another Johnson this high) 5. Chamberlain

To me, the top 3 are pretty accurate. After that, Magic should not be in the top 5. The big O should.

I guess the question is what does "greatest" mean. There's no way I put Chamberlain ahead of Bill Russell.

Agree, but whether Russ is top 5 is debatable.

The man steps on the court, he wins - which is kind of the point. Bill Russell
He finished at #6
One of our fellow alums was making a commentary about Jordan when he retired. During the hoopla, some of Jordan's teammates commented that he was so good, they would find themselves on the floor just watching him do his thing. It was intended as a complement. Heinsohn thought that was horrible. He said the truly great players made their teammates better, not spectators. If you're on the court, your head should be in the game, not passively watching. Heinsohn also said that if someone wasn't focused on the game, Cousy would imprint the word "Spaulding" on their forehead by whipping a ball at their face. Teaching his teammates to always be ready for a pass.

Otherwise, we'd be hanging around the bubbler.

I was fortunate enough to be at that game.
In this day and age, you can't take anything for granted. The Sox bats haven't been doing much lately. Frankly if you're up 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th, you shouldn't need to score more runs. Running into an out is always bad, but last night it wouldn't have been a crushing blow to the Rays if he was tagged out.
Ellsbury had the Sox up by 2 runs in the 5th inning and the bases were loaded. You might be thinking another run or two would be nice. Unless you have zero confidence in J.D. Drew, that would be a killer to get thrown out. Of course pulling it off safely is really cool
