The Fauci Effect refers to the recent spike in Med School applications due to the widely held admiration for Dr. Anthony Fauci. (It is not my creation. Google it.) Obviously, other factors may be involved in the spike. He is a hero to many millions of Americans. This is wonderful. Hope HC can do something to acknowledge the contributions of this great man. Hopefully, HC will find a way to express pride in one of its most honored sons.

The clout and notoriety that Dr Fauci bring to the table certainly have the potential to greatly benefit The College, especially its already- well-reknown pre-med dept.

Possibly, my point was not clear. There was no mention about benefiting the College nor was that the subtext. The point was to honor a grad worthy of any honorariums the school can bestow. He is widely admired in the US and around the world. Certainly, any benefit which my accrue to the College is fine. (Obviously, in our sports crazed culture the Flutie Effect was far greater for BC.) But, my point was about Dr. Fauci not HC.

Understood. You're absolutely right. In one of the other several threads on the subject, the idea of naming an academic program or scholarship after Fauci have been discussed as well as sports-related ideas such as a Jesuit Christmas tournament. Even the idea of creating a graduate school of Public Health in his honor has been spitballed. Crossports is never short on imagination.
I do hope we see him on campus as grad speaker along with an honorary degree. As Dr. Fauci is certainly not the type to spike the football before crossing the goal line, I don't see him taking any time to soak up accolades until he's seen this current crisis through to as much of an "end" as there can be.

I am getting the drift from various posts that "already" is sadly now more accurately replaced by "formerly." Perhaps the HC connection to Dr. Fauci can restore it to the "currently" well renown pre-med dept.

Well, if it's on google, it must be true. Website 101. Actually, if you knew Google you would know that it directs the reader to various sites. In fact the sites for the Fauci Effect were the ama.org, NPR and many highly respected sites. Med school admissions directors used the Fauci Effect to describe the spike in applications. Most certainly you share great pride in your world renowned alum brother. Look it up.
