Tyler Mudd is heading to Brewster in the Cape Cod League, which is undoubtedly the best league in the country (23% of all players selected in the 2021 MLB Draft played in the Cape). Good for him.
There is very good representation in the NECBL and Northwoods as well, however, with seven guys headed to the NECBL and Connor Cooney off to the Northwoods. Both leagues are full of future draft picks and a couple of future MLB guys each year.
I would say this the best representation we've had in good summer ball leagues in a while. Oftentimes, players are able to make a lot of progress when they're playing such a full schedule against solid competition for 50+ games in a row.

Anyone in the Cape league? That is one of the best leagues. It lists only one but doesn't say if they are on a temp or a permanent spot in the cape. A single player in the Northwoods or Coastal Plains League which are the two best other leagues.

Rather surprising he'd get even a temp spot w/Brewster. Stats don't look like Cape League caliber. I would have guessed if 1 player was going to be on a Cape squad this summer, it was Sean Scanlon.

Yeah, I’m going to need someone to explain this to me. Is his family hosting a player on the Cape and he’s on the team until players from the NCAA Tournament / CWS make their way to the Cape?

Probably serving as the last man on the bench type role for a week or two until the big boys come in and he goes back down to the NECBL or whatever summer league he is supposed to be in.

Why would we have four players in the Futures League but none in Worcester? A little surprising there are no players on the Bravehearts.

Additionally, does anyone know what the Intercity League is? I can’t locate a college summer league with that name.

Yeah, this is crazy, how does he get a spot? As others have speculated, I assume this is a temporary contract (most HC guys get temp contracts and need great performance combined with some luck in order to stick around). I wonder if there is a Brewster connection somewhere--the majority of our temp guys went to Falmouth in the Dicenzo era, due to his relationship with the club.

My only thought is that he’s a lefty arm and in a temp (unless he really shines) situation.

He didn't really play much this season and, while we have a dearth of talent on the team, there are several guys who are much more deserving of being on a roster for a few weeks.

- the Intercity League is an adult amateur league, not a summer collegiate league.
- As to guys who may be better players than those on conditional contracts in the CCBL, many guys prefer to be in one spot for the whole summer as most summer ball rosters are pretty much set early in the college ball season, and will take a lesser league full contact rather than a CCBL conditional not knowing when they'll be out, and then forced to try to catch on with another club in another league mid-season.

The Intercity League has plenty of college kids in it...but I don't think they have many D-1 players hanging around there. From the League's website intercityleaguebaseball.com/about-us/

My understanding is that the coaching staff has a limited relationship with the Bravehearts and players put there last summer didn't get the playing spots/time that was expected. From my take Futures League is very confusing on how they prioritize players / player time. Also for both Futures and NECBL will allow a player to move up to the Cape if they are asked to move up. I don't think they do that for any other league. I also think there is a trend in college baseball to really protect the pitchers and limit or avoid summer ball, unless it is the Cape. BC is not allowing incoming freshman to pitch in the summer. Given the amount of pitcher injuries we had last year, we may need to do the same.

The Futures has a rule where 50 percent or so of the roster must be New England school or natives.

From the League's website intercityleaguebaseball.com/about-us/Yeah, none of that is true. The team he's playing for is run by a HC alum, but nobody in the ICL is a professional baseball prospect. I'd be very few former minor league guys and 0 former ML guys.
