/\ And the gloves. Doubtlessly once PETA realizes this they will cite the balls and gloves as evidence and confirmation of evil “speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.”
This has got to be a clever goof/mockery of the hypersensitive nowadays. “Speciesism”…”human supremacist”…🤔

It is also being reported by CBS news and USA Today. I don't think SI is giving us another SId Finch I know I've said this before, but I find this over the top - and the more of these type of grievances come up, the more legitimate stuff will get lost in an avalanche of hypersensitive complaints --------- Would now be an inappropriate time to say that I thought PETA stood for People Eating Tasty Animals?

While we're at it the word "catcher" has "cat" in it, a disservice to beleaguered felines everywhere. From now on that position will be called the "reception agent."

Perhaps, unless you are like one of my former subordinates who gave me a bumper sticker for my 50th birthday that said:
"Looking for your cat? Try under my car tires." No, I didn't put it on my car bumper.
[I'm a dog person and don't care for cats but would never kill one . . . . on purpose anyway]
Hey, if they can make a meatless hamburger, you'd think they could make a baseball and baseball glove out of some plant based stuff like palm leaves or banana peels.
Discuss.

I doubt PETA is a big fan of Tony Fauci these days. I know Snoopy isn't.

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
PETA can take it up with the big Man upstairs.

Little by little we have descended into a world of insanity You wrote that before we went down a strange path where I guess we are going to find a bunch of people whose typical concern about research is the use of fetal stem cells holding hands and skipping along with a bunch of people who don't want to use animals for research. Strange bedfellows, indeed.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, the digital world is having fun with this:
1. "PETA said the baseball world should replace the word "bullpen," which refers to the area where bulls are kept for slaughter" They should replace the acronym PETA with the word "nutfarm", which refers to the place where PETA seems to get their members 2. Home plate should be changed as it’s an affront to homeless people who don’t have a home to run to. 3. Let’s give PETA our loud response. Two words and it’s not Happy Birthday! 4. Ok, but in the age of Wokeism, how do we think armless Pitchers will react to this name change (Bull pen to "Arm Barn"). Need to plan ahead so we don’t offend anyone.
The NY Post cleverly notes: This isn’t the first time PETA has had a cow over fauna-based lexicon. This past January, the animal activists were ripped as “cuckoo” online after demanding that people stop using “speciesist” terms such as “chicken,” “pig” or “rat” as insults for humans.

In fairness, rats are intelligent and they'd not cause the Black Plague...fleas did.

Well, Joe Buck uttered the "B-word" last night during Game 3 and the media is having fun with it: Joe Buck must not have gotten the message from PETA before Game 3 of the World Series:
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals made a push to get baseball to change the term "bullpen" into "arm barn."
Apparently, the traditional term is not "animal-friendly" because a bullpen is where bulls would go to the slaughter. That's not exactly what happens in a baseball park, but PETA has their messaging. www.msn.com/en-us/news/offbeat/joe-buck-starts-an-unintentional-war-with-peta-in-world-series/ar-AAQ7d2r?ocid=msedgntp(More than one person pointed out that Joe Buck's last name itself might trigger those concerned with "speciesism or a a human-supremacist worldview".)
