For those in the metro DC area
🚨NEW >> According to multiple federal & local law enforcement officials, there is an elevated, highly specific threat against Northern Virginia malls this Halloween weekend, @wusa9 confirms.
We are told this is *not* a vague, run of the mill, usual Halloween elevated threat 1/
Threat deals with 2 ISIS agents activated today Live threat with 72 hours early info suggests a mall in the Alexandria or Woodbridge area
By all sources it is called a legitimate threat
Be careful

If shoppers are very frightened they can stay away from the malls in question and shop online.

Security at all metro DC malls increased overnight
Given current open border policies these threats are likely to be a regular event
Given supply chain issues, people unwilling to work, and California unions precious little is available online or in the stores

Nobody in government, regardless of party, wants to talk about threats Unfortunately we continue to focus on responses to crisis and events and do little to prepare and prevent
But that is a subject for a conversation over a pint or two in a pub

Thank you Ray i don’t watch Fox, 0r any of the cable shows I actually received a gift by attending Holy Cross it is called evaluating real world evidence and thinking for myself and then doing what I can to help others. In case you haven’t noticed I don’t support the nonsense from either political party. while I respectfully accept your position to have your own opinion I am concerned about your suggestion and interpretation as it was simply a comment about the supply chain and a legitimate statement about the current economic uncertainty as we reviewed a potential security threat God Bless you and go Crusaders✝️🍀

Driving around northern Va today cop cars, marked an unmarked, are everywhere with a ton in Arlington and Fairfax Counties- so probably a combination of caution, protection, and legitimate human intelligence dealing with ISIS or other foreign groups. One of our Holy Cross colleagues,Father Scalia, gave an insightful sermon today at 1030 mass about global terrorism that focused on how the devil divides us and God works to unite us, and how we as Americans need God in our life today.. I thought it fit well with the Gospel for today and his effort to raise funds for the diocese/parish and our 40 hours of adoration before the feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Is there any correlation with these terror scares and the southern border being open and many unknown people from Afghanistan entering the country?

Is there any correlation with these terror scares and the southern border being open and many unknown people from Afghanistan entering the country? No, The southern border is not open; there were 1.7 million detentions in the government fiscal year ending Sept 30. The emigres from Afghanistan are not unknown to American authorities. Most worked for the U.S. military during the 20 year war. And it is highly unlikely that ISIS members are secreted among them, because ISIS and the Taliban are enemies. For example, see recent bombings of mosques within Afghanistan by ISIS. No one yet has accused the Taliban of plotting terrorist attacks in the U. S. There was no attack in Northern Virginia over Halloween weekend. A clue to the supposed threat probably being manufactured was that there was no heightened state of alert in DC. After 9/11, I participated for a short time on a task force to identify those sites which, because of their symbolism and vulnerability, would be most likely targets of an ISIS-sponsored terrorist attack. There were about 20-25 nationally, one was in Massachusetts. Some were already hardened after Oklahoma City, some were hardened further. (Although hardening did not prevent one of the sites from being overrun earlier this year.) If an ISIS-cell was supposedly activated (as reported by only one local news station). and that was credibly sourced, it is most probable that the entire Greater Washington area would have been alerted.

Technically the Southern border is closed but we know millions continue to come across as runners, asylum, or with Cartel assistance With respect to Afghanistan, PP is right for the most part we know those coming over-always a case for slippage but we are able to minimize some of the potential concerns but no clearance and review system is perfect But for those that disagree with me please feel free to say what you please and have fun Whether the alert this weekend in DC was real, fabricated or a stunt, it is clear the police were engaged

You know, there's something to be said for the fact that so many people want to get into our country. They aren't fighting to get into China or Russia.
Think about it. People fled Haiti about 10 years ago and went to Brazil, Chile, Columbia and other western hemisphere countries to escape the disaster in their homeland. But lack of opportunity has so many of them risking life and limb and spending what little they have to try to come to the United States.
As Jay & the Americans sang, "only in America . . . . land of opportunity:'

At great risk. During the Cold War it was fashionable (in some of those very same quarters) to attack democratic capitalism as greedy exploitation (and worse) but those folks in Eastern Europe fleeing west (at great risk) knew better.

The goal is always a more perfect union. We should never rest. Most people have local elections today. Some have statewide ones. All should vote. I know some of our posters work at the polls.
