Confirmed with a most reliable source that Kerry Flaherty is off the team this year voluntarily but is still at Holy Cross. Not injury related. She is a junior so not sure she’ll return next year to the team. As a junior, her experience might have helped against the Huskies the other night. Was she on the team when practice started a few weeks ago? Or a recent development? From a pure playing time standpoint, she averaged 10 minutes a game last year, all players who averaged more are back; and the new coach has brought in some new players. The reason might be as simple as that.

I am of the belief that this position is not unique to Holy Cross and really privacy issues involved. I think it is up to the student-athlete to make any disclosures. Putting Kerry aside for a moment, you might think T&G or, what is it, Spectrum 1?, would consider interviewing the players who left the team/school and ask them what the reason was. Maybe they did and the player(s) declined. Or, is the media also bound legally, ethically or otherwise (discouraged by the school) to reach out to the student-athlete? Maybe some of our resident legal-eagles (sorry, I know we have some games against BC coming up ) can weigh in on the subject of privacy in these matters? Media can call anyone up they want...the college could "restrict" said media from game by not credentialing them. (Would be bad practice). Let's be honest, there isn't hard hitting journalists in the T&G sports section or spectrum one.
