Q&A time!
1) Will the FCS playoff committee deem HC worthy of a home playoff game in the first round?
My POV - it’s a close call, but yes I think the committee will reward HC with a POTENTIAL first round game against the NEC champion.
1a) Will the Holy Cross Athletic Department submit a bid to host a first round playoff game?
My POV - Yes they will. Not bidding on a first round game would be disgraceful and a clear sign that HC isn’t committed to pursuing excellence in FCS football. It would also send a negative message to Coach Cheney during their upcoming contract negotiation.
2) Assuming HC makes a bid, will it be accepted by the NCAA?
My POV - yes, it will.
This is where I respectfully disagree with Messrs. Phreek and Foley. I think that there is enough “wiggle room” in the specs and/or ability for the NCAA to exercise discretion.
However, I do believe that HC will have to promise to rent lights for the game.
Ok friends, what are your thoughts?

OK, no disagreement here. I like and agree with all you said. Now let's remember we still need to beat Bucknell.

IIRC, there was serious talk of HC hosting a playoff game after beating Lafayette at home for the title in 09. That team then laid an egg at Bucknell the following week and was rewarded (punished?) with a road game at Villanova instead.
In short, beat Bucknell and worry about the playoffs after.

A win and we'd likely have hosted UNH in the first round of the playoffs. We lost to a bad Bucknell team (who fired Tim Landis after the game), which led us to traveling to Villanova instead. Let's take care of business and then worry about what the committee decides to do with us.

Looking at the bylaws, a minimum of 12 feet is required between the endline and what I will categorize as an obstruction, in this case a fence. From Google maps, it appears there is about 15 feet between the endline and the fence. Google imagery was pre videoboard, and I assume the installation of the videoboard didn't move the fence.
But there is this killer spec, IMO, new this year.

Let's take care of business and then worry about what the committee decides to do with us. The general feeling at Bucknell is that Landis was not fired. He didn't resign until December 24th, which made it harder to find a new coach. If they were going to fire him, it likely would have come a month earlier. At that time Landis had one more year on his contract, and it is likely the Bucknell AD told him at the end-of-season meeting that there would be no extension and, further, that his contract would not be renewed unless there was major improvement.

Just send a pic of the Colgate locker room at Polar Park. Don’t mention the part about it being slightly dislocated from the stadium.

These minor items by the NCAA hopefully fall under the category of can't see the forest through the trees if HC submits a substantial bid. It's not like OSHA or the Board of Health is threatening to shut the field down.

I read that Robert Kraft generously shared his plane with the URI football team when they had to make the long trip to Towson this season. Not sure what that cost him, but I would have to assume at least $50k.
Perhaps he would be generous enough to underwrite a “makeover” of the Fitton Field locker rooms…

He is an incredibly generous man! The Institute needed multiple millions for an addiction program, and over a dinner conversation agreed to find the project.

The Kraft and Hiatt families have been quite generous to Holy Cross, where Myra's father Jacob Hiatt was a close friend of Father Brooks and Brandeis where Myra attended. I wouldn't be surprised if the Krafts contributed to fundraising for the naming of the WBB players lounge which is being named for Sherry Levin, HC's leading scorer all time and the only Jewish member of the Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame. Lending of the plane might also be contingent on the Pats schedule more than whether they like URI over HC.

I wonder if it would be cheaper to play at Polar instead of renting lights, which I understand is expensive. We don't lose any home field advantage down the street and fans can get warm in the indoor areas.

If HC were to host playoff game they're not playing on a baseball field.

Visiting locker room situation is an embarrassment and the school should do something about it. If not the PL should force them to.
