We are overthinking this. If Monmouth and URI both win today they are in. Monmouth with the Big South auto bid and URI as the 3rd team out of the CAA. If this happens, we will have 4 Northeastern teams in the first round and they will play each other. We likely play SHU or URI. If both URI and Monmouth lose, they are both likely out and we are extremely likely to play SHU. As mentioned, The interesting scenario comes into play if EITHER Monmouth or URI get in. Then you have 3 NE teams and one is likely going somewhere else. My eyes start to look down the East coast. William and Mary if they win today? VMI if they win today? The committee could very well send that 3rd team to the Midwest and while I would drive to see the Saders play Southern Illinois, both South Dakota programs or Missouri State, I would really hope to play one of them in the 2nd or later rounds (in most years UNI is in and an HC visit is a short drive too)

Monmouth trailing 42-10 in the 4th. URI down 27-10 at the half.

Those scores sound like Monmouth and URI were playing against Holy Cross.

Literally no bubble teams helping themselves today. This will get very interesting. All the following have lost or are about to lose… Monmouth Mercer Southern Illinois (probably still in but definitely no top 8 seed) URI Chattanooga VMI
William and Mary definitely gets in with a W against Richmond now. They are up 3-0 midway through the 2nd Q.

We are playing Sacred Heart.
This has happened twice already since the field was expanded to 24 when Fordham hosted Sacred Heart (no more than a 75-minute drive between the schools), several years ago.
No need to overthink this.
The question becomes which seed does HC - SHU get paired with.

The question becomes which seed does HC - SHU get paired with. And which field do they play on in round one. Whichever submitted the higher bid. There are no actual seeds for teams 9-24. Things are a bit more complicated if say two non seeded teams both upset seeds 1-8 in the round of 16 and meet in the quarterfinals.

The question becomes which seed does HC - SHU get paired with. Seems like Nova would be the regional seeded team. And playing the SHU v HC winner. Am I missing something? We MAY (MAY) be looking at a year with just 2 CAA teams.

Nova would be sweet for most HC fans compared to one of the Plains States.

If we play SHU I’d say that is a very favorable playoff matchup for HC. One could not hope for a better one. For a number of reasons. And it is due to to the non-seed and regional processes in play for round 1. We’ll take it.🤞

JMU will be seeded #2, as Montana State lost.
Villanova should get a first round bye.
If Richmond beats Bill & Mary, then no other CAA team gets in. Richmond up by 10 with 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

Tribe gets caught in the Spider web! Always an interesting nickname for Richmond. Not sure I like their logo. Let's go playoffs!

Tribe gets caught in the Spider web! Always an interesting nickname for Richmond. Not sure I like their logo. Let's go playoffs! Siderman can shred the Spidermen. Richmond is 6-5. Prevailing conviction is that no 6-5 teams make the field of 24. VMI, with a big loss to Western Carolina, is now also 6-5, and left out. Very unusual for the Northeast and Delmarva, with likely only four teams in. Two with byes, Villanova and JMU, and two automatic qualifiers from weak conferences. It will be interesting to see how the selection committee handles this.
