I'm pretty confident that HC's subs are better than Bucknell's first string.

We should forget about the puzzling loss to Bucknell in 2009--it is not a predictor of Saturday's game in my opinion. HC's 2021 team is much stronger than the 2009 team and Bucknell's current Bison are weaker than they were in 2009. Let's look at how the two teams fared against the rest of the PL in 2009 and 2021
2009
Bucknell went 1-4 (beating Georgetown) and average score was 13-25= (13) per game HC went 5-0 and average score was 31-22= +9 per game So Holy Cross was +22 points per game advantage vs Bucknell and should have won easily....but did not
2021
Bucknell went 0-5 and the average score was 12-38= (26) per game HC went 5-0 and the average score was 40-14 = +26 per game So Holy Cross is +52 points per game advantage vs Bucknell and should win for fun on Saturday

If not for Colgate's 2018 season where they allowed 26 points in PL games and outscored PL teams by an average of 32.8 points, we may be talking about the 2021 Crusaders as the most dominant team in PL history.

More dominant than the Duffner teams ? That 1987 team would actually be considered the most dominant in history, although the league then only had six teams -- there were the core five plus Davidson...no Fordham and Georgetown. Interestingly enough, HC never played Davidson during their brief stint in the PL (1987-88), so we only had four league games.

Sensing a little cockiness on this board. The game still needs to be played, not good to be looking ahead to the playoffs just yet.

Bucknell is horrific....this HC team is very good but it's not as talented/deep as the 1980s HC FCS teams. Those HC teams were legit at the top of 1-AA....this team is very solid but not at the very top i.e. Top 5/10 of FCS football just yet.

We were in 1986-1987 largely where Marshall was at in the mid-1990's. Or where a program like South Dakota State is at today. Can't even start to compare Chesney's current teams to Duffner's until we advance to the quarters at least in the FCS playoffs. I'll take any win though. Just get that monkey off our back, please! A program as storied as Holy Cross needs to erase the historical I-AA/FCS playoff donut. Why is Bucknell so bad at football year after year? I don't get it. School is located in the shadow of Happy Valley, the Friday Night Lights shine bright in the western part of PA when it comes to recruiting, school is fairly strong in just about every sport they play in the PL from basketball to baseball to lacrosse to track. Don't get it.

I think I can drive all the way down to URI if the game is played there. I ALMOST prefer that to Fitton only because we are still undefeated on the road - Fitton, not so much.
My preference is for a win than a home game. Of course, first choice is a home win but if I can only have one, I’d take the win.

URI/Fitton equidistant from my home so I'll take Fitton.

A game at URI would be a lot like Jack Coffey- smaller place, better atmosphere (not having as many students around should ensure that HC fans would be able to get tickets fairly easily). They do have lights.
...that's not to say I don't want the game in Worcester!

The 1984 team was ranked #2 nationally at one point but fell to #15 by the end. And Carter’s recruits simply dominated their FCS foes (plus Army) under Duffner in ‘86 and ‘87 and were ranked #1 and thereabouts. We’ve got a VERY long road in front of us (in terms of recruiting that sort of talent and then playing at that sort of level) but real progress in that direction would be shown with a couple of playoff wins this year.

Haven't been there is a while and usually my trips there are for basketball but believe the playing surface is nothing like at Fordham.
To summarize, for me:
#1. Fitton #1A. URI #3. Anywhere reasonably drivable #4. Sacramento State (for history) #5. Anywhere else

Realize your using a figure of speech but just to clarify, Duffner was Carter’s lead recruiter on the staff. No doubt. Quite a team. The dream is we return to that Pre-Patriot level of recruiting. "Carter had a huge role in me choosing Holy Cross," Lockbaum said. "He had built that place as a destination, to a level you could just see it was going up. When he came to my living room, he made such a huge impression on my family. He was a major league closer with this VCR he would bring to show highlights. He was young, energetic, enthusiastic and had this innovative staff that just bubbled with excitement."
The team ended the season at 8-3, and as Holy Cross prepared for 1985, Carter took an interest in another project -- unheralded quarterback recruit Jeff Wiley, from Celina, Ohio.
"Signing day was over, and he came out to the town I grew up in a driving snowstorm," Wiley recalled. "I mean, he didn't even have a scholarship to offer me. And it wasn't like I was 10 minutes from any airport. This was a drive from wherever he was. That has stayed with me to this day.abcnews.go.com/Sports/tragic-tale-heisman-underdog/story?id=44016559
