Saylor Poffenbarger, a freshman at UConn announces she has entered the Portal Use the portal “Early and often” Poffenbarger, although technically still a freshman, has been at UConn since last January. She played second semester and attended UConn during the summer. Has had injury issues this semester, and UConn has an incredibly deep roster this year.

Says she's 6-2 and a guard, so they have guards that are taller than anyone we have playing forward.

Sounds like she could be a valuable addition...if she stays healthy. Think there might be any interest on her part?

Sounds like she could be a valuable addition...if she stays healthy. Think there might be any interest on her part? She had over 35 scholarship offers, mostly from P6 conferences. Some of her finalists were Maryland, Oregon, and Tennessee. Unlikely she is going to transfer to a PL school. Maryland might be a strong contender, given that is her home state and that they recruited her very heavily.

I never heard of an NCAA "trade deadline"🙂

I never heard of an NCAA "trade deadline"🙂 I believe she can play second semester under the one-time transfer rule. Had she played even a minute this semester, she would not be able to play. But she has not played at all. Was not even suited up for their first game due to the injury. If she opted to play second semester after transferring, it would mean giving up a year of eligibility to play half of a season. For that reason and also because she has been battling injuries, I wouldnt be surprised to see her opt to wait until next year to play.
