This could be the toughest week of the year-I think I could go anywhere from 1-3 to 4-0
Morgan State-- G'town has thrown a couple of clunkers the past two games although Hoyas have shown they can beat weak teams. Still, going with Bears Fordham- Rams should rebound from HC loss Lehigh- This will cost me money, but Lehigh has improved dramatically while Lafayette has been weak of late. Holy Cross-- Let's see an offensive explosion in the first half and then our reserves can show what they can do

Morgan St - I wish GU had a plan to compete better in the PL Fordham - The Rams defense with have to stop 'Gate QB Brescia who did a Sluka impersonation last week Lehigh - I feel strongly about this for some reason Holy Cross - The Bison are somehow worse than GU

With a 2 game lead on the second placers and a 3 game lead on the 3rd placers, It would be almost impossible for RGS to snatch defeat from the jaws of almost certain victory. The crown should be polished off for presentation. 8485 is biding his time and hcfc is doing his usual wait until the last minute. Someone more detailed than I can check my work but here's how I see it: the second placers: Chu, 87, 8485, hcfc and me need to pick and get right at least two that RGS doesn't have. Chu and I picked only 1 different than RGS so even if we hit all 4, we only pick up 1 game and come in a close 2nd. 87 wisely picked 3 different winners compared to RGS so that if he hits them all, he'll pick up more than enough to overcome RGS. If 8485 and rgs want to win this thing, they are going to have to pick all 4 games differently than RGS and that includes picking Bucknell over HC. Not sure their purple blood would allow that. The guys that are 3 games behind have little chance because even if they pick all 4 differently than RGS, at best they'd tie 87 for the lead unless hcfc and/or 8485 pick all 4 differently (and hit all 4). Have at it math majors!

Nice analysis.
I have to ask if RGS's W-L record could be the best ever in any of these competitions. I doff my cap to him for his extraordinary performance to date.

Just wondering if silver medals will be awarded? You know, the Avis "we try harder award" 🏆 (young posters can google that). 😂
Having been in the lead for many weeks, I never saw RGS sneak up on me and take the lead and need to do a post competition analysis as to where and how he did that. Or, simpler, I might just demand a recount. That's the American way, right? 😏

... 8485 is biding his time ... If 8485 and rgs want to win this thing, they are going to have to pick all 4 games differently than RGS and that includes picking Bucknell over HC. Not sure their purple blood would allow that. - I'm not biding my time. I've been picking Saturday morning all season - some of us are still working toward the comfortable retirement you are enjoying.
- Nothing wrong with a tie for first. Not sure what the rules of the contest stipulate but when there's tie in the PL, the tied memebrs are declared co-champions. And the ultimate champion is decided in the playoffs or in a vote by the other members. I'd be honored to be a co-champion with RGS and have the tie broken by whatever method 87 decides. Perhaps Dean Wormer should choose the champion?
- If I'm 2 games behind and I pick all 4 correctly and RGS only picks 2 correct, I'd be tied. So the task is not so insurmountable where 3 of the games have a chance of going either way.
- I make my picks based on what I think will happen not what others think or do. The results will be what they are.
GTown - Morgan State looks pretty bad in the MEAC. Georgetown is not great in the PL but should prevail.
Colgate - Gate has the #2 scoring defense and #3 scoring offense. Fordham #1 Scoring Offense (Tied with HC) and the #6 scoring defense. Colgate home for senior day looking to finish strong. Fordham with a possible let down following last week's championship game. I think all that points to Lehigh - Rivalry Game. Lehigh playing better. Lehigh home. Holy Cross - Unlike the last time we secured the championship with a week to go in the season and headed to Bucknell, this team is not relieved to finally get over the hump after 3 close calls. This team has higher aspirations.

Many have received this email from Coach Chesney yesterday afternoon. For those who did not, I am sharing:
Dear Xxxx: What an eventful season it has been! I want to start off by saying thank you to each of you that have continued to support our team with your financial commitments and MOST importantly taking time out of your schedules to support these GREAT young men at games both home and away. Your impact and presence have been felt by all of us and it is especially appreciated when we pull into a competitor’s campus and still get that home game feeling. Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!! As the Thanksgiving season approaches, we all have much for which to be thankful. Personally, as the head coach of this great team, I am thankful for the energy and effort that these student-athletes bring to everything that they do. I am also thankful for the selflessness, toughness, and overall resolve that they display each time we take the field. I am proud that it is now known that when you play this Holy Cross football team you are in for a 60-minute battle and NOTHING less. That is not an opinion, but rather a proven and repeated fact. It is a great honor to be able to hoist the Patriot League trophy for the third year in a row. The amount of work, commitment, and steadfastness that must be displayed each day to accomplish this feat is both extreme and necessary. There are truly “no days off.”
At the start of this season, we were all concerned with the short turnaround and prep time that we were allotted. Coach Chris Grautski did a remarkable job of getting these young men back to us in peak physical condition. He is nothing short of a wizard.
We started the season fast with a win over FBS UCONN and then took a major hit in Game #2 that I believe made us a much better team today. Beating Yale and getting our program’s all-time record to 29-6 vs. the Eli and then adding a monumental win over Monmouth before we started into Patriot League play all added to a strong start for your Crusaders. The game at Polar Park was a huge success and proved to be the talk of the town for weeks leading up to and following that event. We cannot thank the WooSox enough for sharing their space with us. The work that they put into making that event both safe and special for our players, school, and the Worcester community is to be commended. Let’s do that again soon! We knew that last week’s game against Fordham was going to be one of the biggest tests of the year. They are playing an inspiring brand of football and thankfully so are we. I would have never predicted the final score to be what it was but I am sure the ninety-six guys on our sideline felt differently. Your Crusaders approached that game with a steely focus and an intensity that it deserved. Along with that, they had great poise and confidence and when the weather delay occurred it was those young men that helped keep us coaches in line. As each coaching group was deep into the adjustment phase of the game plan we paused and looked up at our team. Liam Anderson ’22 held in his hand a piece of the renovated hardwood floor and Jalen Coker ’24 was throwing him a tennis ball as they were a few innings into a game of “stickball." At that moment, I knew we were going to be just fine. Wheels roll to Lewisburg, PA early Friday morning for our third trip to Bucknell in as many years. We are all hyperaware of the 2009 team’s trip to Bison Country and we are set on not allowing what happed then, to happen again. At 12:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, we will learn our team’s playoff opponent and location and we could not be MORE excited to……….PLAY BUCKNELL TOMORROW!!! One game at a time! Thank you again for all that you do for this team and Holy Cross in general. Our staff and players wish you and your families a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Go Cross!! Let’s win!! Bob Chesney Head Coach

Apparently efforts were made to make the layout as safe as possible within the friendly confines of Polar Park, which itself is compact to fit into an urban neighborhood, and Coach appreciates that.
I like how Coach does not make any boastful statements about HC success in the playoffs. He's an earn it first guy.

Spoiler alert, if my scan yesterday is correct ... Well done, RGS!
And all I'll say is ... I knew I shouldn't have trusted Georgetown! For want of a nail, the kingdom (and finishing tied) was lost.
