Massey makes Air Force a 5 point favorite (59-64) with a 70% chance for the win over HCX. Air Force is 1-1 with a one point win over Tulsa and a 5 point loss to South Dakota.

An area of concern is defending inside the perimeter -- HC D1 opponents are connecting on 62.3% (341st) of their 2PT FG. Air Force shoots 63.6% (14th) 2PT FG.
I'm hoping that Saturday's game isn't a layup line for Air Force.

I hope Coach Nelson is working on Plan B defense option - zone

If we have not seen it yet, very doubtful. Few D1 teams(Syracuse a notable exception) play zone as a primary defense since the advent of the 3 pointer.

I hope Coach Nelson is working on Plan B defense option - zone Nelson showed some zone against BC - it didn't go well.

Langford (I think) just powered in from the wing for an easy hoop one the one possession I can remember using the zone. Was rather embarassing to watch.

Sorry, I just meant that he blew in through the zone like it was nothing; I had thought the zone was supposed to take away the dribble drive. Nothing was stopped that night I guess.

Aren't these guys supposed to fit into fighter jets? Are there no longer height and weight limits at the service academies? My recollection is that the only reason that David "the Admiral" Robinson was at the USNA at his height was that he had a huge growth spurt after arriving there.

There is a team younger than ours if Gates plays. 5 freshmen in their top 8, with 1 soph. .

We should have scheduled the Coast Guard Academy as one of our D-3 games. It's likely no other team has ever beaten all four Service Academies in the same season, or even played all four in one season.

The statistical profile of Joe Scott's teams over the years is eerily similar to his mentor's. They take care of the ball, don't rebound much, and don't defend particularly well. And when it comes to offensive pace, they operate at three speeds - slow, slower, and slowest, sort of like Carmody on quaaludes. All of his clubs have ranked at or near the bottom in possessions per game, and one challenge for our guys will be to maintain defensive focus for the entire shot clock every time down the court.

Well if he’s a protégé of Carmody, this should be a cake walk for our Crusaders, right?

Just don't sit in the front row. Defenders will be leaping into the stands when HC shoots a three.

Is this a reference to my posts a number of years ago when I had my Hart courtside seats and on two different occasions I "caught" Matt Husek after diving for an opponent's 3 point shot? Neither he nor any other Crusader had a great success rate blocking those shots. My late mother used to have an expression: "A day late and a dollar short."

Yes and the spectacle of the all arms and legs gangly basketball players leaping right past the three point shooter with no noticeable effect on whether the shot was good.

Your Mom came up with a lot of expressions which later became popular with the general public. In addition to "a day late..." her "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions" and "a stitch in time saves nine" have becomeclassics"

Hey, KY, give my late mother a break! I never said she created those expressions, she just used them. It was her Irish father who created them!

Can't explain the grammar, but remember hearing this phrase the morning after election night in November, 1960: "The Irish are none too good for the best, and the best is none too good for the Irish."🙂

I may have to look up its origin. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Thank you.
