Villanova football schedule says Dec. 4 game is at 7:00. Thought it would have been an afternoon game. Guess not.

I wonder if HC is renting lights for the game or if they were allowed by the NCAA to “roll the dice” and not have them.

Thanks hc87 for your optimism(?!) Everyone else had me worried we'd be headed to Brookings, SD or Kennesaw, GA. Did not realize the chair is the A.D. at URI!

When the announced Sacred Heart away and winner to play Villanova and the home game at Noon, that was a dead giveaway it was us at home. Kudos to the team/Coach Chesney and his assistants (including his Dad)/and, importantly the administration for a change putting in an obvious winning bid.
I also really like that if we can win (I'm not concerned at all about the comparative results against Merrimack as that was an anomaly) we go to Villanova. I'll make that trip as I did in 2009 but expect we may have better results.
GO CROSS GO!!!!!

Villanova football schedule says Dec. 4 game is at 7:00. Thought it would have been an afternoon game. Guess not. Night game in December is corporal punishment. Nova must have box office experience indicating the night game generates much higher attendance. I doubt ESPN+ demanded a December night game in the NE with southern sites available.

His comments were right on (about recusing himself and knowing URI was out) as he complimented the committee on the quality of their work and their overall fairness. Classy guy. PS: Great pairings and now all we need to do is to "Get 'er done!" GO CROSS GO

Anyone know of SHU has a message board and if there was chatter about an HC match-up?

Anyone know of SHU has a message board and if there was chatter about an HC match-up? I’d guess this was the precise game they were looking for. And their second-favorite location .

Have not seen them yet this year....they do have 2 very good RBs, one of whom Chestnutt just returned from an injury. Careful what you wish for as always but I like this match-up rather than a team that flings it all ovah the place.

Not much love on the selection shows but that doesn’t matter now. Great news for HC football and the chance to play at home is big. GO CROSS GO!

One of the ESPN-U commentators had Villanova as his upset alert team, the other had Villanova getting to the semi's.
Predicted weather for Saturday is sunny and chilly.
Won't need lights.

Assume all these teams are good FCS teams. In the first round there are no gimme's. On any given day... Swag is one thing, overconfidence another. No doubt SHU is confident, too. HC will have to play all out, hell bent to win. Although, I normally do not place much faith in published betting lines at the FCS level , Massey might be an interesting indicator.

Tough to handicap this game due to strength of schedule. SHU conference had more teams with records over .500. Both defenses are excellent. SHU has given up 154 points this year with HC 209. This will come down to which offense will be more efficient HC has scored 390 points vs SHU 225. HC should be favored.

Very happy with the draw. Could not have worked out better for us. Looking forward to the game. Let’s all bring some friends and neighbors and give the team the home field advantage they deserve.

Per Sagarin, HC had the #230 schedule while SHU's was #250

Massey's combined ranks have only two conferences as ranked below the Patriot League. The one right below the PL is the Pioneer league. SHU's Pioneer league is not "better." I think we'll see that on Saturday.
