Maybe lights are one of the few things you actually need to host a game besides cash If so, we would have had to include that in our bid if we wanted it to be successful. Quite possible and maybe the noon start is to protect against not getting everything permitted, installed and working by Saturday.

Sunset on Saturday in Boston is at 4:13. Certainly, a 1 PM start would be highly questionable with respect to being fully played in daylight.
As HC is apparently bringing in lights for a noon game start, it may be that if Saturday turns out to be cloudy, and dreary with mist or rain, natural lighting might start going south around 3;45 PM, and affect not only play on the field, but the quality of the television broadcast.
If the sun is shining, artificial lighting will also reduce some of the long shadows in the fourth quarter.

Pretty sure we wore the # on our helmets for a game of a Sac.St player that was killed within the last decade or so.
One game at a time but that really would be something to go out there and play them.

We are just over a week removed from the Fordham delay...with early sunsets there should be no question why lights are necessary for playoff games, even those that start at noon

Anyone who plans lights on the predicted weather deserves whatever happens to them . Is there anyone who still believes in the accuracy of such forecasts? This would seem to be in the category of "better to have them and not need them, than it is to need them and not have them."

Might be cheaper to buy an option from SHU, giving us the right to continue the game on Sunday if necessary with SHU bussing back up. They would keep the premium either way. But college sports are not a Casino or a financial market so that would never happen.

Lights were on in the 4th quarter. Two years ago, the Yale-Harvard game in New Haven was probably 10 minutes away from being called a tie. That game was a 12pm start, with halftime extended by a half hour because of a climate protest. And then the game went to overtime. I was obviously at the Fordham game -- that weather was CRAZY for this time of year. Not counting those random claps you get during heavy snowstorms, that was the latest in the season, by at least 3 calendar weeks, that I recall a thunderstorm in the Bronx since I moved to the area in 1993. But with a 12pm start this time of year, you're risking running out of natural daylight for a delay of any reason.

Of course, one easy solution is to shorten the commercial breaks, bet they could cut 15 minutes off the elapsed time of the game by doing that. Especially the Holy Cross and SHU infomercials, probably can show one of each and be done with them!

And tend to think the commercials are part of a national buy. HC-SH is the only noon start. Other games on Saturday have a 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM, and later start. So, for FCS world, HC has the exclusive spotlight for two hours A dozen FBS games start at noon EST, and nearly all the football junkies will be watching FBS.

I wonder how many FB games have been called due to darkness in the hundred plus year history at Fitton?

Just saw the PL promo on the BB commercial break. Definitely drop those and the HC promos if there are no lights. SHU had earned their promo spot and that should stay.
