The lady who quoted the $78K scholarship to UVM unquestionably meant for her daughter's 4 years.
My interpretation of Foley's post was that there wasn't really that big a difference between the cost of a Holy Cross education vs. UVM. I'm sure he meant it in only the nicest way as he's amply demonstrated his affection for Holy Cross in the past. Undoubtedly he meant that Holy Cross is doing a great job containing costs so that an outstanding education at Holy Cross costs not much more than at a state university. My compliments, Foley.

Vermont out of state tuition is 41,280. If you posted this because $78000 is more than the $41,280, know that many schools promote their merit money as the total of the four years of available discounts on the cost of attendance. No I posted that it was that expensive to go there....that is crazy to me. The story you told about getting 78k over four years doesn't even pay half the tuition of the four years.

$76,000 of scholarship money, for many families, is like mom or dad getting a $100,000 bonus, nothing to sneer at.
