It is a process to recruiting that next level of pclayer and DEPTH Great post! Love the process "list" as well. Let's knock a few off this year. Do you think the PL inhibits us from recruiting the talent required to achieve the last two goals?

On the margins of course but each step increases the likelihood of attracting that next level and success secures future success

Someone mentioned William and Mary earlier. They are the only FCS team to beat Villanova. In addition to getting Villanova to throw four picks by getting ahead in the first half and maybe taking Villanova out of their game, the Tribe rushed for 265 yards on 58 carries. Only 18 pass attempts. I suspect we will look to impose our will on the ground. Easier said than done but certainly our best chance of success.

Yes, And hopefully our O line will be healthier than yesterday and clear holes for our runners, without causing illegal procedures

If Siderman gets in I hope they use him as a passer before they run him. And speaking of trick plays this might be the game to unveil the two quarterback backfield.

I believe all of the round of 16 is on ESPN+ Highlights, Villanova squeaking out a win over JMU. Highlights, Villanova narrowly winning over Delaware. Villanova uses a trick play. Villanova trailed 13-7 at the start of the 4th. Loss to Bill & Mary. Smith threw several of his picks into coverage. In this video, the Villanova rug looks to be fairly new and an excellent surface. Longest of the highlight reels. Villanova mounts a comeback win over Richmond in the closing seconds. 'Nove down by 14 at the start of the 4th. At least from the highlight reel, this game featured gunslinging quarterbacks.

I think you can take something from the common Lehigh games - ‘nova dominated from the start and led 44-3 after 3qtrs - while we struggled and led by only 14-12 going into the 4th qtr Any team that can win at JMU is a major challenge for any PL team I agree with the poster that said we’ll have to utilize some trick plays to stay in this game I’m keeping hope alive v the CAA champs by thinking ‘trap game’ for them but if trick plays give folks hope that’ll work too. Ok Ill throw in my common sense confidence-booster: we can hang in this game by winning the turnover battle.

The restrictions on the size of traveling squads are imposed by various conferences. The NCAA restricts the number of players who can dress (participate) in a regular season game to 82. For bowl games, there is no NCAA limit. (That policy may apply to Power Five bowls.) HC took the entire roster to SDSU and to Fordham, but at least for the Fordham game, not all were in uniforms. I would expect that HC will take the whole team to Villanova, as it is a bus ride. A Silver Fox bus seats over 50. Do you think HC will follow the SHU precedent and bring the band and cheerleaders? HC band sounded great on ESPN+. Logistics are tougher for a Philly night game than they were for SHU to drive to and from Fitton for a noon start. Most games nowadays you can't hear the band* playing the stands, for some reason, during our game you could *it must have something to do with the way they position microphones versus how they used to.

I’m keeping hope alive v the CAA champs by thinking ‘trap game’ for them but if trick plays give folks hope that’ll work too. Ok Ill throw in my common sense confidence-booster: we can hang in this game by winning the turnover battle. Villanova defense is very good and will be ready for the run and will force whoever is QB to pass so we cannot turn ball over. The defense has the ability to keep Villanova offense in check and will. Roper will need to devise a game plan that is different than he has ever done to keep Villanova guessing, maintain control of ball and needs to be efficient on 3rd down. Villanova has kept it's opponents to 29% success rate on 3rd down so if we fall in that stat on Friday it will make it tough to compete.

Villanova was lucky against JMU- one easy and one very easy field goal missed in the last 10 minutes. Best kicker in JMU history too, so it goes.

I like the pressure W&M had on Nova in obvious passing situations. If HC can get an early lead, it looks like #12 will force the issue and throw some dangerous passes.

All the pressure is on Villanova in this game. People seem to think they are far superior then us.
I don't think our side for one second should agree. This is a very good Holy Cross team that has won 7 straight games. This is also a 10 win Holy Cross team which has happened since 1991.
Nova is a good team and even if they beat us by a lot I don't find them as this impossible match up.
We played Syracuse and Navy in 2019 who would steam roll Nova. SDSU last year.

PSU beat Villanova through the air. PSU 80 net yards rushing. 429 passing yards. www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=401282817PSU had trouble running the ball in some games. Villanova yielded fewer rushing yards than did Auburn, but more than The OSU did. PSU rushing against the Buckeyes was a net 30. Average per rush was 1.1 yards. That still got Franklin a 10 year extension, IIRC the announcement.

Common opponents both beat up on easily. The interesting number is the amount of rushing TD's (12) Villanova has allowed. That will be a battle that will evolve quick. Will Villanova allow Sluka to superman all over the field or can they contain him? Roper game plan will be a critical factor in putting Sluka and offense in a position to be successful.

Sagarin's latest ranks HC's strength of schedule as #232, 36.71 Villanova is #184, 46.18. The N value appears to be 258. Sacred Heart is ranked #247, 30.88. Hope our Alums from the Delaware Valley turn out to support both programs.

Here's how the teams stack up as far as players by class-using each team's roster. Of course we don't know from this list how many players from either team played a year in prep school. how early or late they were born for the school year, and who gets playing time.
Class=Villanova Count---VS---Holy Cross Count of players on roster
Freshmen= 13---VS---18 RS Freshmen= 17---VS---0 Sophomores= 9---VS---22 Juniors= 19---VS---22 Seniors= 16---VS---29 Grad Students= 16---VS---0
